Amad Diallo was the star of the show for Manchester United against Everton despite not scoring.

The 22-year-old returned to the starting lineup on Sunday afternoon as one of six changes made by Ruben Amorim.

Amad Diallo returned to the right wing-back position that he thrived in during Manchester United’s 1-1 draw with Ipswich Town.

Marcus Rashford and Joshua Zirkzee scored two goals each as the Red Devils beat Everton 4-0 at Old Trafford, but United fans were blown away by Amad’s display.

Amorim raved about Amad’s performance after the full-time whistle, describing him as “smart” and “explosive”. Rashford was also quick to shower his teammate with praise.

Rashford has now scored three goals in three games under Amorim and appears to be enjoying his football again under the Portuguese.

After the full-time whistle, Rashford was quick to praise Amad for his role in the victory.

As quoted by BBC Sport, Rashford said: “The energy and the atmosphere speaks for itself. It is down to the players to create this in the stadium but the fans today, that is what we want to hear, nothing but positivity and pushing the fans forward.

“It wasn’t as easy as it looked today. Amad did well to counter-press for two of the goals. He’s so sharp and he’s always got the intent to push the other team back, with and without the ball.

“It is for the players to understand the strengths of other players so we can feed off each other.”

A new partnership forming under Ruben Amorim

Amad and Rashford both started on the right on Sunday and linked up well on multiple occasions.

Rashford scored twice against the Toffees and Amad picked up two assists, including one for Rashford just one minute into the second half.

Amorim is still discovering his best setup at United but he will like what he saw from Rashford and Amad against Everton. Against Arsenal, it would be a surprise if they both don’t start together.
