Jesse Winker back in Cincy? Maybe?

  1. Lol I doubt it. It’s Boras. Unless we are about to overpay for Winker, he’s not going to be a Red

  2. I wouldn’t mind Pete. Despite having a hitter’s ballpark, we’ve struggled with getting good HR hitters, which is a problem we shouldn’t have with this stadium.

  3. I don’t think Winker would be bad. It seemed like he had been playing pretty well, and he’s entertaining.

  4. As far as Winker goes, I don’t see us needing outfield help. We got a good amount of them.

As far as Alonso goes, if CES is our 1B of the future, unless we need a DH, and I don’t know if he’d wanna only be a DH every day

  5. Winker does fit the hitting profile that Krall says he’s looking for.  Has good at bats, not a heavy strikeout guy and hits line drives.

The issue I see is I can’t imagine them putting Winker back in thr outfield, so this would have to be as a DH or learning 1B.  I don’t see the Reds paying Winker much at all to fill those spots, considering they’ve already got Candy, CES and Steer (if they can find other outfielders) who can play those.  Just hard to see the path for this one unless some other moves are incoming.

  6. Winker would have probably ended up being a great signing/trade last year, but unless he’s still going to make like $2 million, he’s probably not worth it.

  7. We do need an outfielder, but unless winker is cheap and not the only move for the outfield I guess I’m okay with it
