Aside from his recent history I wonder if his lack of empathy immediately after the hit and during his ejection played any part in the 3 game suspension. As a Texans fan I thought it was a bad look that he was still being vocal and combative after seeing Trevor taken off in a cart instead of just walking to the locker room. Yes, his statement showed contrition, and I don’t doubt that it was sincere, but at the end of the day actions speak louder than words and he needs to start playing with more control if he doesn’t want a repeat of this in the future.
That’s a bit excessive, it really should only be 1 or 2

I’m not defending this hit, but I do want to weigh in on the subject of QB protections in general.
The onus should be on them to slide or get out of bounds sooner. The rules are there to protect them, and they exploit those rules to gain an extra yard or two (or 15, in MaHommes’ case).
The league needs to stop putting defenders in no-win situations when QBs are consciously gaming the system.
