For the second straight year, the bridge QB out of the Deshaun era has presented itself. Please make it happen!

  1. Joe Flacco, Jacoby Brissett, case Keenum, this team has weirdly loved the backup qb under Stefanski

  2. I kind of feel like we’ve known this since the Bengals game. I hate that this franchise is so inept that 99% of the planet can tell them Watson is trash and they fucking want to stay the course

  3. Stefanski and Berry need to bounce back in 2025, so Watson isn’t going to get the same opportunity he received for the last three seasons. Anyone can clearly see that Watson is done.

At this point, the organization needs to focus on determining if the team can win with Winston in 25 and–if necessary, 2026–and finding and developing the QB for the future.

  4. Watson Options:

    Still Named Starter

Chance to compete for starting QB

    Cut

Keep but do not allow him to participate in team activities for remainder for contract

  5. Every backup QB since the trade has become a legend

This is like Jacoby 2.0 – top 10 offense, defense shitting the bed

  6. Seems like a major difference here is Watson won’t be ready to play at the beginning of next season anyway, right?

So even if we wanted to, he couldn’t.

  7. There was no original bridge QB. Flacco was never coming back for many of the reasons that Winston might not. They were not impressed with Flacco because he could not avoid putting the ball in danger. They did not like the Flacco experience like the fans did.

Winston has age on his side, where as Flacco was a flash but signs of the wheels falling off were there.

The smart people made the right decision with Flacco, and it wasn’t close. They’re going to make the right decision this time as well.

  8. When this keeps happening, it isn’t the bridge QB, its the coach that’s good. And I have no doubt anyone not named Watson will actually be fine and you shouldn’t marry yourself to one of these guys

  9. I think Winston on a 2-year deal may be ideal. I cannot imagine Winston will be getting ‘break the bank’ heat from any other teams. Bc he’s still erratic a mistake prone.

But I think had we started Winston from the jump we are probably .500 and at least in the picture.

  10. Winston feels like the QB we could run with for at least the next season or two. We just saw how he can put up some insane numbers. Those Ints did kill the game, but while we are developing players and looking for the long term qb option, Winston is the clear best candidate for our bridge qb.

  11. We play in the AFCN. No way we’re making the playoffs with Winston as our QB.

Yeah, he’s fun to watch, both on the field and off (in interviews). But he also throws the worst interceptions I’ve ever seen. And that’s not even including the ones dropped by stone-handed DB’s.

  12. It’s a matter of balancing cost vs upside at this point. The options are limited in terms of what the Browns can actually spend on QB so Winston almost becomes the inevitable bridge for at least another season. I also think the FO is slowly starting to fold toward moving past Watson and they will try and atone for their Flacco mistake by bringing Winston back.

Either way the team needs to revamp the O-line and run game in order to make the offense more balanced. I think there’s a world where Winston makes the Browns somewhat competitive but it’s going to rely on a much more effective run game than what they’ve shown over the last two seasons.
