  1. Well you do have Nacho Alvarez, Ozzie gets hurt alot and he still had tremendous value. I mean if you were to do it now would be the best time. But hes such a fan favorite I don't see them doing it.

  2. Since 2021 Ozzie ranks 18th in BA, 28th in OBP, 3rd in SLG, 5th in BRV, and 7th in wOBA among 2B.
Someone you've mentioned before has interesting ranks.
Nico Hoerner ranks 4th in BA, 7th in OBP, 31st in SLG, 21st in wOBA, 12th in BRV.

2B with a similar profile to Ozzie – Nolan Gorman, Brandon Lowe, Gleyber Torres, Jorge Polanco, Brendan Rodgers, Luis Rengifo.

  3. Trading Ozzie would all but guarantee Acuna would leave at the end of his contract. But I've been saying for 2 years find a 2B and Ozzie replace Ozuna at DH. Let Ozzie just hit and be healthy.

  4. Honestly I would not be surprised if they trade him. I said it the last couple years. If they get a nice package in return AA will pull the trigger.

  5. If the Braves trade Ozzie they may as well start looking towards a rebuild. In my opinion Ozzie's contract is our championship window. Ozzie is the cornerstone of how the roster is constructed not just because of his skill and leadership, so much money on his salary against what you would have to pay a similar quality second baseman if one even existed because I can't think of one that I would take in a 1 for 1 trade for Ozzie now that Altuve is getting past his prime. That money allows you to field an entire extra all-star caliber player in your starting 9 or a bullpen full of expensive relief pitchers like the Braves have that has been such an asset the last couple seasons. Once Ozzie is gone, or his contract expires and he has to be paid even close to market value either 2B is going to need to be filled by a bargain bin player or they are going to have to start running out league minimum relief pitchers to free up the money to pay a top tier 2B. Either way it's a massive hit to the quality of the team you can field.
Even the complaints about Ozzie getting hurt have to be coming from people who have not given more than 5 seconds thought to it. He broke his foot and toe by fouling a ball off it. Is he any more likely than any other player to have that happen again? No. He broke his finger sliding in to second without a sliding mit. Is he any more likely to have that happen to him again than any other player? No. He broke his wrist colliding with another player during a play. Is he any more likely than any other second baseman to have that happen to him again? No. They are all bad luck injuries, so unless you believe Ozzie Albies has a curse on him or something he is no more likely than any other player to get hurt in the future unlike someone like Acuna who has chronic issues in his knees causing injuries on non- contact plays.

  6. Fine, I'll be that guy… I can't confirm it, but most Braves fans I know don't watch 100 games a year. I tend to see about 130+ TV/In-person. You really don't see Ozzie not make "the plays he's supposed to make" that often. You also don't see him miss runners at 1st. I will never understand why his metrics are so bad.

  7. Ozzie is a below average MLB hitter vs RHP for his career…96 wRC+…avg is 100! That's 74% of ab's where he's below average. Granted he's great vs LHP..but only 26% of ab's. If trading Ozzie can help bring back someone like Crochet .. let's do it.

  8. Fans have been suggesting this for the last couple of years. Ridiculous show of baseball knowledge from those said fans. Also, they’re NOT giving up on him after one szn. ‘23 was a terrible yr for everyone save Ozuna. I think Hyers will be great for him and everyone else.

  9. Nah, I know he's had issues w/ injuries but I think he and of the other all the players the Braves have locked up (Acuna, Olson etc.) are safe. I think Ozzie's current deal re-upped is more likely than him getting traded

  10. If LM isn't willing to do what it takes to compete, just as well trade some of the big boys and restock the farm system. As it stands presently, no way they will compete with Mets and Phillies.

  11. Since the Braves seemingly aren't interested in spending to make the team competitive, if they are ten games behind at the all start break, I say break them up and start over and stock the farm system.
