The Vikings get no respect

The Minnesota Vikings are 10-2, yet they’re still a dark horse in the NFL playoffs. Steve explains why they won’t be a threat…but also why they might. Does Sam Darnold have what it takes to lead the Vikings to the Super Bowl?

  1. Honestly I think it's more crazy that people think Darnold wasn't just in a really shitty situation on the Jets and that's why he played terrible. Aaron Rodgers can't even succeed there! He finally got his way onto a good team with a good culture and he's thriving. That said, Darnold is about to head into free agency as the best available QB by a mile and an upcoming draft that is super weak at QB. He's going to get a big offer from someone, and I don't think the Vikings are ready to jump into another Kirk Cousins contract.

  2. KOC 3-4 in one score games with Dobbs, Mullens, Jaren Hall. 21-5 with his QB1 starting.
Sam's throws on target is 80.7% and bad throws is 13.1% – exactly the same as Goff – better than Allen, Mahomes, Lamar, Kyler.
Sam is throwing the ball as well as anyone in the league.

  3. Or, Darnold goes back to a Team like San Fran, now as a high paid starting QB, and the Vikes start the season with Danny Dimes, who'll bridge them until JJ MacCarthy is ready…. just sayin'

  4. It’s not Sam Darnold why people are overlooking the Vikings but because the Vikings have been pretenders for the better part of 40 years. The more games they win during the season the bigger the embarrassment in the post season.

  5. Darnold comfortably sitting in the pocket like he does is something I haven't seen in Vikings QBs in a looooooooooooooooong time.

  6. The Vikings are a great organization, wonderful fans, great facilities, stadium, coaches. Yet, they will ALWAYS break your heart in the post season.

  7. I love Sam Darnold for what he’s been able to do this season but he has the pocket awareness of a turtle. The arm talent and processing has been exceptional but before the injury to Christian Darrisaw he had a top 5 offensive line and still managed to create sacks he had no business taking which killed drives and limited the offense. Despite this, I hope the Vikings keep Darnold for 2025 and I believe it should be his team until McCarthy takes it from him

  8. Is nobody going to talk about Steve Smith's hat which says ghosts remember Sam darnold on a Monday night football game I think it was against New England on the sidelines saying I'm seeing ghosts

  9. As a lifelong Vikings fan. We are used to disrespect from the national media. I don't know what it stems from..? But it has never been more apparent than this season. Minnesota had no expectations leading into the season. With Cousins leaving, and eating all the dead cap hits from him & others. The Vikings are a year ahead of schedule. Have already extended Jefferson & Darrisaw, and will have 76 million to spend in free agency next offseason. SKOL!!!

  10. Vikings don't deserve anything they haven't earned. Imo they are the worst team of the playoff caliber teams. Can they win it all, based on their talent? Sure. Will they? Nope, they will fall apart at the most inopportune time.

  11. Bc we’re a soft 10-2 team and known to flop in big moments simple as tht. Defense doesn’t confuse anyone!!! A sub par QB throws all over us. We need to draft a RB and get younger in the secondary. Dallas Tuner needs to play more, no Bama player shd be sitting on the bench don’t care tht Ban is playing better, put him nxt to him then!!!!

  12. Shit, I'm 58 and old as hell, but I've watched Steve for years as a Minnesotan and Vikes fan. Tough af young man!!!! I wish he was a Viking at some point of his career!! Tough as nails!

  13. Sam Darnold makes just enough bad plays and they eek out all of their wins. Hard to trust them. They haven't looked as impressive as the other mentioned teams. Vikes fan of 40+ years. Still pulling for them.

  14. We here in Minnesota who root for the Vikings… well… let's just say we've been let down before… many, many, MANY times. We are cautiously optimistic this year… but I doubt it will really sink in until we at least win a conference championship. It's as if we are saying – "They are doing well… let's not jinx them".

  15. This is hilarious since Steve Smith once said Baker Mayfield was better and that Sam Darnold shouldn't start for the Panthers any more. Then Baker got cut and Sammy Dimes led them to 4-2 and nearly the Division title. This guy has zero credibility.

  16. I'm fine with nobody talking about them.

It seems nearly every time the media starts picking up on a Minnesota team they end up choking.
Except the 87 snd 91 Twins. But even those teams didn't get a lot of coverage until they won.

  17. When fans across the country think of the Vikings they think "4 Super Bowls and they never came close in any of them." Is this the year all that changes? Sam Darnold gets the same lack of respect. Fans say "He has the talent but he never comes through. He sees ghosts." I want Sam to lead the Vikings to a Super Bowl win so much I can taste it.

  18. sam likes being here but its been understood that he's a 1 year stop gap between bot him and the team. vikings signed him they knew they wanted jj after they had time with him at combine kevin was giddy as hell after the visit the interview was funny as hell seeing kevin that giddy. the thing is sam would have to take another 1 or 2 year contract below value but he would be leaving a lot of $ to do so. imo stafford might retire and i see sam getting a good contract from the rams it would make a lot of sense. just my speculation.
