  1. As cool at it would have been, our bigger needs are outfield and pitching. And who knows, AA could still pull off a heist for something even better.

  2. That contract was extremely affordable.

At some point AA has to make a splurge and stop trying to get a discount.

  3. Now that’s he’s off the board, our SS solution is simple. Detroit has been treating Andy Ibañez like a backup even though he’s produced like a starter. Since they aren’t playing him consistently, they may let him go for Waldrep, Elder, and a bag of baseballs. Then we just slide him over from 2B to SS. This is the kinda move AA would love. Under the radar guy with a high ceiling who has been undervalued by the market.

  4. I got downvoted before for saying I didn’t think Adames was going to be the savior because of his defensive fall off plus inflated walk year steals, but I will admit that is a reasonable contract for the clear top SS FA available.

  5. Yup…. nope. I am happy for Adames, but I feel the Giants will be losing this contract. Looks like his defense was already slipping, and for SS, he will be having to move. His current bat will be less interesting by then. 7 years..?

  6. There isn’t a single 6 on the market that would actually improve our lineup v what we’d have to pay and what we’d lose in the field.

The folks at hammer territory and locked on braves and this sub can harangue and whinge all they want.

Orlando arcia is going to play ss all season for the Atlanta braves.

  7. Got BJ Upton written all over it. And he won’t stick at SS a whole longer. Very pleased we didn’t sign him.

  8. As much as I would love to see the Braves make an impact move, contracts like this almost never end well. I wish we’d get daring and offer stupid AAV for a short-term deal though
