2024 Dudley and Lanier Award Finalists
RICHMOND, Va. – Washington and Lee University linebacker Jalen Todd was named a finalist for the Touchdown Club of Richmond Willie Lanier Award, the organization announced on Monday afternoon.
The Touchdown Club of Richmond awards the Dudley and Lanier awards to the best collegiate players in Virginia each season. The Lanier award is awarded to a student-athlete at the Division II, III and NAIA level.
Todd, a senior linebacker for the Blue and White, had an impressive final season. Todd ranked fifth in Division III with 124 tackles while ranking eighth in tackles per game with 11.3. In addition, he recorded 5.5 tackles for loss, 3.5 sacks and one quarterback hurry while breaking up two passes. He posted a career-high 22 tackles in the Generals’ win over Guilford, which ranks second in Division III this season and third among all divisions. Todd’s performance earned him the distinction as the Old Dominion Athletic Conference’s (ODAC) Lou Wacker Defensive Player of the Year while being named a First Team All-American by the American Football Coaches Association (AFCA).
Virginia Union University running back Jada Byers and Bluefield University defensive lineman Quincy Robinson were also named finalists for the award. The Touchdown Club of Richmond will announce the winners of the Dudley and Lanier award on Friday, December 13th on CBS 6 at 7:45 p.m. You can stream the broadcast live on WTVR.com as well.
