Article is mostly about Tom Brady and his involvement with picking the next QB. Goes on to talk about his relationship with Shedeur. All stuff we’ve heard a million times…
But this is what stood out to me. We could have quite a bit of cap space and I’d prefer not to spend it all on a vet.
“What about Darnold in free agency? If he finishes the season strong, he’s going to come off at $40 million per year (and maybe $50 million by the end of this season) in open-market bidding. Cousins via trade? I highly doubt Atlanta would be willing to eat the majority of his accelerated salary-cap hit just to get to Penix.”
Remove these scenarios from your brain please. I’d rather draft a rookie QB than pull a Broncos and sell the farm on a vet.

We’re in a pretty good spot to land one of two possible franchise QBs. Hell, one of them threw for over 42,000 yards this year.
Edit: I say possible because JaMarcus Russel’s happen all the time
There’s still 4 games left and two of those games are in our favor. If we go 4-12 there’s a massive possibility that we’re at pick 5 due to the Browns, Jets, Titans, Jags, and Giants also doing horrible. If there’s no way we can’t trade down then we may have to go all in on Darnold or bank on a raw prospect like Milroe. This is a very difficult situation, and I know it’s hard to root for us to lose but we actually cannot afford to win any games.
Anybody who think trading for Cousins is a good idea please look at his last 4 games.
ASHTON JEANTY if we land at 5
Shadeur the raider? Some might call that poetic justice.
I believe it’s basically down to Shedeur/Ward or Darnold. Cousins is another version of Carr at this point. Unless a lesser known QB rises in draft position, it’s likely to be those 3 and I prefer the draft. If we fall in draft position, then Telesco has to do everything in his power to move up. Can’t have another murky situation at QB.
We’ve had a QB problem since Carr broke his leg. And before that we had one since Gannon. It’s one of the toughest nuts to crack in this league. Even early draft picks are a 50/50 shot. For every CJ Stroud or Jayden Daniels there’s a Zach Wilson, Trey Lantz, or Mitch Trubisky.
If we don’t get the #1 pick… id draft Jeanty in the first and Allar in the 2nd. With Bowers already on the team, there’s your young offense.
When I look at the success that New England had, one thing just jumps right out at me
TB12 wasn’t drafted until the 6th round, but with a high first round pick, #1 – 5, Raiders supposed to take a QB based on what exactly now?
If he’s so all knowing, find the Raiders a TB12 steal of a NFL starting QB in the 5th or 6th round, and get off bleacher report / ESPN / and however else keeps forcing Deon’s kid as the absolute best QB..
forreal……as predicted. the literal second he became part owner
Tom Brady ain’t solving shit
Shoulda brought in Fields
Why not Darnold and a top QB pick? Let Darnold play for a year or two (sign him to an amazing two year deal he can’t deny) and have the rookie learn behind a vet. Actually develop a QB.
So were 2-11 with a decent chance to get the nunber 1 overall and somehow brady is our savior?
if we fuck up our draft order how do we feel about ewers?
There’s many stupid “analysts “ out there and Charles Robinson is right up there with the dumbest of them.
None of the QB’s available in FA will take us to a Super Bowl. The franchises that dominate year to year are the ones that gambled in the draft and got lucky with their QB panning out.
Sam Darnold right now is way better than what Sanders could be in his best case scenario.
We are about to commit the same mistake as with Mayfield.
I’m glad we got Bowers, but we really missed out on one of the best drafts for QB last year. If only Penix was able to fall to us, man what a piece that would’ve been
$40-50 mil on Darnold after only ONE good season?! On a team that basically has everything laid out for him because the coach is extremely good offensive head coach?
Any team that does that is moronic.
It doesn’t really sound like he’s going to fix it, then, does it?
Reminds me of a conversation I imagine was had one time:
“I’ve met him several times. He was always nice to me.”
“And he was a very good linebacker!”
“That settles it. As soon as he accepts our offer, Matt Millen will make all of the personnel decisions for the Detroit Lions! Super Bowl or bust, fellas!!”
