Great show! Not sure about this trade. Blackwood would have made a great tandem with Askarov
Eklund isnt an unknown young guy… dude was 7th overall and considered for 1st that year by some scouts..
As an Avs fan I gotta thank Mike Grier for doing us this favor so early in the season. Sharks are one of my favorite teams and I’m definitely gonna be rooting for y’all in the future since I have family in San Jose. Take care of kovi pls!
Grier said that Blackwood's agent and the Sharks were far apart in contract extension negotiations, we'll see how the trade shakes out…
Hmm, they obviously cannot retain more on Georgiev in a potential trade because you are only allowed to retain on a max of three players at the same time. Not possible this year anymore for the Sharks without a proxy.
Win-Win. Avs dump their beer-league goalies and Sharks get a shitty goalie and draft picks and a mediocre forward.
Colorado now leads the league in Wood
4:30 Sorry to tell you, but that is objectively false. Between forwards, defense, and goal the positions age slightly differently as forwards peak earlier, but they all definitely peak clearly before 30. I've seen various studies and they all come to the conclusion forwards peak between 23 and 25. I think what is happening is that because star players are maintaining their abilities longer than in the past (prob due to advances in training, nutrition, etc.) it makes it seem that players in general peak later.
From an Avs fan, this was a phenomenal trade for both teams. The emergence of Ivan Ivan this season made Kovalenko expendable and although he was good, he wasn’t great for a team that is in their cup window and absolutely needed to improve their goaltending. From what I saw from Kovalenko, I think it will help out the Sharks in the long term and he could end up being a solid top six guy. Win/win for both teams!
