we’ll see who wins this trade since it’s a four for one

  1. As a lifelong Red Sox fan, I am more than okay with this. We have failed to get proven players by overprotecting our prospects for too long.

  2. Seems mutually beneficial.

Redsox need pitching now and whitesox get 2 top 100 prospects that ideally would fit their timeline of becoming competitive

  3. Red Sox farm is too deep and the rotation is too bad to have not pulled the trigger on this.

If/when Teel and Montgomery become studs we have to wear it, but hopefully our other top prospects are studs too. Meidroth is a legit and unique player, but probably nothing more than a utility guy/low level starter at second. Wikelman is a shot in the dark but not a super high upside guy.

  4. The White Sox got a ton back but the Red Sox won this trade due to their window. Dealt from a place of depth and did not give up any MLB talent.

Anthony and Campbell, two outfielders are the top two prospects in the organization.

Teal is a high floor – low ceiling prospect — an everyday catcher by sure.

Montgomery wasn’t going to be up in the big leagues for a long while.

And the Red Sox still have Rafaela and Wilyer Abreu who are extremely young and under a ton of team control.

  5. This gives off similar vibes to the 1st Chris Sale trade (I know Crochet is nowhere near as good as Sale but still).

  6. If we were the Dodgers, I’d be thrilled that we’re getting this much talent.

Because we’re the White Sox, I know that we just got the next Moncada, Jimenez, and Kopech. Failures.

  7. Two top 100 prospects and a couple top 20 prospects from the Red Sox system. I’m afraid the White Sox may have fleeced here.

  8. Dumb trade. Is Crochet some ace? Let your prospects develop the way Houston did and you might have a dynasty.

  9. As a White Sox fan this is giving me ‘Nam Flashbacks to the Chris Sale Trade. The White Sox historically have been terrible in the trade market and terrible at developing talent. They got Yoan Moncada and Michael Kopech from the Red Sox for Chris Sale. Kopech’s development was severely stunted in Chicago and it was made very clear when he landed in LA. Moncada on the other hand was a dud to begin with. He had one note worth season and flopped. He can’t stay healthy to save his life, can’t hit and can’t field. Just watching him play he looks defeated in his mannerisms. This Crochet trade is very likely to end up in the same fashion. I refuse to give the White Sox the benefit of the doubt until they actually make a trade where they don’t come out worse off from it.

  10. Never heard of Crochet, never seen him pitch, but looked at his stats and don’t really understand why the Red Sox gave up so much for him. 3.58 era and is gonna be the ace of the Red Sox?

  11. Crotch said he wouldn’t pitch in the playoffs without an extension. Joining the Red Sox accomplishes that by being 3rd or 4th in that division with this version of their roster.

  12. Equal risk on both sides. Prospects fail all the time. And there’s always a chance that Crochet could regress after just one breakout season. This is a good deal for each team.
