  1. Elbow to the shoulder. Note that the NHL rulebook doesn't specify that the elbow has to hit the head to be a penalty. I think the 2-minutes was the appropriate call. Olivier doesn't hit Seeler's head, but his elbow needs to stay tucked right through contact like it is at 1:26 and not extended like it is at 1:29. It's not a major because the injury is due to the head into the glass which was just bad luck and not because of the elbow. Also, a lot of the result is due to Seeler changing his angle by stopping right before the hit, resulting in him bending down and turning.

  2. Gotta love how ridiculously inconsistent the officiating is in this league. Tim Peel was publicly sacrificed for this crap. Lifts his arm and then has to save face by manufacturing a penalty on a textbook clean hit.

  3. Jody Shelley (CBJ color commentary) was exactly right – Andrae stopped skating right before the hit. That makes it look (at full speed) like Olivier charged him. If Andrae skates through and takes the check, it's a non-issue, shoulder to shoulder hit. That's why Olivier was incredulous right after the hit.

  4. Horse shit call. That was a totally clean hit, and a good one. NO elbow whatsoever. Pathetic what the League has become. Is this Europe? The ads keep creeping in. They on the helmets now. Have you seen the disgusting European League's jerseys? That's what's coming if fans don't stand up and protest this corporate takeover.
