AA is alive!!
Honestly the more I think about it, I’d love us to go big but Arcia as 9th hitter is fine, get a good OF bat, get a SP4 and we’ll be in the playoffs again.
AA is great at finding outside chances, he’ll find them
If you approach free agency logically you will finish 4th in the race for each free agent.
Bob is a goofball but he’s well-connected with the White Sox and their GM said there were five finalists yesterday.
He’s a rental and a Boras guy but I think Dylan Cease makes a ton of sense. He fits the Braves’ archetype perfectly, he’s an Atlanta suburbs native, and we know for a fact that the Braves tried to acquire him last offseason.
Also, for those who want to see the Braves give out a big pitcher contract – all pitchers are risks, but the Braves are much more likely to do that with a pitcher with Cease’s health track record than, say, Fried’s. They were in on Aaron Nola last offseason, likely in large part because Nola is remarkably durable. Cease has put himself in the same convo.
The City of Atlanta was in on him, not just the Braves.
This gives me some hope for Cease.
Last year they traded for Sale in January and that worked out just great. As did adding Lopez. Kelnick not so much. But there are ways to add starters without big FA signing. So not so worried yet. (But agree that a few more quality arms are needed.)
As for offense, I think it turns on Olsen and Murphy. If they perform like 2024, it’s gonna be a long season. If they bounce back, LF is less of an issue.
Damn. Crochet would have been just what they needed.

I’m happy they didn’t get him. The Red Sox gave up a lot for the guy. The pitching we have in the farm system, as well as drake baldwin and nacho Alvarez, I think there’s a lot of potential there that can keep the Braves as a top team. To give up four of those guys for one pitcher seems a little extreme.
