We had setbacks this week with the survey post, there’s no doubt about it. It normally get posted on Monday but this week because of some errors it didn’t get posted until Wednesday. Then, when it did get posted, the survey had been coded incorrectly so instead of getting the Purdue questions the Fresno State questions were populated. It was a mess. Regardless, we got it all sorted out in the end so without further ado, here are the results of this week’s fan survey focused on the hiring of new football coach, Barry Odom.
A pretty interesting distribution here with a majority of Purdue fans giving the grade a B. Just 1% give Odom a failing grade and while that’s a small percentage it’s obviously ridiculous. There’s no justification for that in my book. Now, the 4% who gave him and incomplete? Those are the real intellectuals of the group. I mean that sincerely. There’s simply no way to know if this hire will work out so I was more trying to gauge the optimism of the fan base.
Again, we’ve got a majority response. 59% want Odom to focus on hiring a top notch staff first and foremost. After that it’s the transfer portal and in third place, far behind, is to retain current players and that makes sense given that Purdue just finished a 1-11 season. It’s not that there isn’t talent on the roster it’s just that it’s certainly not where it needs to be.
