Opponents deem Celtics one of the “most unselfish teams” in sports — here’s why

  1. Related to this, this team has a lot of hockey assists, which obviously don’t help the middle of the pack numbers, also I love how sometimes the ball works around to a certain match up where we have an isolated advantage, those don’t work out to assists, but it was unselfish work to get there.

u/NoaDalzellNBA – post a piece of the article in the thread to give people a taste, I like that stuff and it almost always gets me to click to the full read.

  2. I’m glad to see this in print. When people ask me what is my favorite thing about the team, this is what I say!

  3. Not mentioned in the article, but it also really helps that no one is really playing for a contract. They don’t need to boost their own stats, they’ve all been paid.

  4. Hell yeah. Playing selfishly just leads to empty stats where the stars of the team could average triple doubles and still lose because the rest of the team aren’t being utilized enough or properly. I’m glad the celtics have returned to the real celtics way. Team success over individual accomplishments.

  5. Not once when anyone messes up do you see a guy throw his hands up or seem annoyed. They just go ah shit and move on and work together. I’ve never seen this kind of brotherly love on a team before without having one or two guys causing drama or just being annoyed they didn’t get the ball.

  6. Just like the celtics of old. Team ball was the standard for the c’s set by Red from the beginning. The C’s don’t chase MVP’s, only rings.

  7. When you have Jayson Tatum, Jaylen Brown, Kristaps Porzinigs, and Derrick White on your team, and fuckin’ Drew Peterson is in there launching threes. Yeah, that’s how you know.

  8. >They also had an NBA-high three players on the U.S. Olympic basketball team (Tatum, Brown, and White).

Jrue gonna be mad when he reads this.

  9. Always grew up idolizing that beautiful game spurs team and I’m overjoyed to see us playing the same kind of ball now
