As they should, this team is too talented to just throw away everything we got going this season and what we built.

  1. I mean any team trading for Jimmy is trying to win now, so they won’t get rid of actual win now players. Just say you aren’t open to trading him lol

  2. So, they wanted GSW to secure Dennis? Wiggins, Kuminga, Schroeder is a pretty win-now package.

    Is Beal win now?

Does Brooks count as win-now? Can we get a young player with the win-now player as well?

  3. There is no trade out there for Jimmy Butler that will not worsen the team short term. I just don’t see the vision. Jimmy Butler is one of the best small forwards this season in the games he has played, not many people can replace that contribution

  4. The headline of this post sounds significantly different from what was actually tweeted.

  5. Also this was tweeted just after this one, so it lines up

The Miami Heat would likely prefer to receive win-now players in a potential trade for Jimmy Butler rather than draft picks, per @davidaldridgedc

“So if moving Butler brings back players that give Miami more of a shot, the Heat will engage. That likely means taking back players, rather than a deal featuring a bunch of future picks. Riles doesn’t do rebuilds. (Plus, he’s going to be 80 in March.)”

  6. I really think Riley is just trying to get some leverage on Jimmy and get him to sign an extension for much less than the max

  7. I’m really confused as to what this teams direction and future are. We are not contenders right now. We don’t have the resources to become contenders. I don’t think Bam or Tyler can be anything better than the 3rd best players on a title contending team. Jovic is the only young player I can see becoming more than a roleplayer, but I think his ceiling is also 3rd best player on a contender.

So how do we get more stars? We can’t draft them because the team won’t tank. We can’t trade for them because we have such poor asset management. We can’t sign them because free agency isn’t a thing for most stars. I just don’t see a way for us to be more than average going forward.

I really do feel like the front office is using an outdated philosophy. It felt outdated before the new CBA kicked in, but now it just feels like it belongs in a museum.
