The St. Louis Blues want to trade forward Brandon Saad, Sportsnet’s Elliotte Friedman reported on “Saturday Headlines”. The 32-year-old has a full no-trade clause this season, but he’s willing to consider other options, Friedman reports.

  1. Honestly if the blues would eat some salary this year and next they could get something decent. He’s not going to drive a line himself, but he’s a consistent 20g guy. He was awesome in Colorado before he came to St. Louis but was playing with much better line mates than he is now

  2. I’ve liked Saad during his time here, (he’s incredibly consistent) but if we can get a good return, I’d be open to moving him. I feel like a contender would love to pick him up.

  3. That sucks, Saad is one of my favorite Blues. If we do trade him I wish him nothing but the best, seems like a good guy.

  4. Saad is the definition of a playoff depth player who will score big goals when it matters most. As much as I’d love a return of assets he’d be such a valuable piece if we make the playoffs.

  5. Bummer. I feel like Saad belongs here. He’s a clutch player when we need him and is a great influence on and off the ice with the young guys, that matters just as much as on ice performance. I would be sad to see him go.

  6. I’m not opposed to this. He isn’t scoring like he has been in past seasons. He’s slower than his line mates and would open a spot for younger player in the future. Just need a good return.

  7. This is definitely sad news to hear. I knew it was in the realm of possibility but Saad is such a true Blue, even after years in Chicago. His style of play is what Blues fans have always loved. Full effort every night. Solid vet leadership, do as I do. Huge value in the playoffs. Unfortunately that’s probably not gonna be us this year.

  8. In Army’s interview earlier today he mentioned having ways of replenishing their missing picks and Saad was the first to come to mind for me. Saad going to a contender for two playoff runs (and likely salary retained for both years?) for futures seems like a no brainer. It’s also worth noting that 13 of our current 14 forwards are also signed for next year (all but Faksa). It’s a crowded group that will likely be adding Snuggerud in the spring and hopefully Dvorsky by next fall; something’s got to give.

  9. If they can get good return for him, sure, though he’d be missed.

Just don’t want them to make a trade for the sake of making a trade.

  10. This is wild I’d be happier to see schenn go, at least saad is visible on the ice making an effort no matter the score or time

  11. Makes sense. Trade Saad for picks in case Leddy comes back. Leave enough cap space to cya. Smart move.
