Always thought he seemed like a no brainer, assuming he has interesting in coming here obviously. Really seems like a perfect fit.
Hmm. Would be the most talented player on our roster overnight. But he doesn’t seem to be mentally prepared enough to be on a team as bad as ours. I just keep thinking of Nylander telling him to quit whining during that playoff game. I feel like we have too much of that attitude already.
Well this article doesn’t really offer any source. But it is probably most likely that anaheim or Columbus for example are interested / listening. We have the cap space. if verbeek wouldn’t listen/ asking he wouldnt do his job properly.
That said. If Marners ask for us is really 14,5m per year for 7 years I don’t think we should go for him. We would really get in trouble in 3-4 years.
If he would come here for 11-12m I think we should sign him. He would instantly be the best player by far . A line with Leo, Cutter and Mitch sounds amazing. Or Z with Marner….
Other than the RFAs this off-season (Stamkos ..) he also only is 27. Perfect age for our rebuild tbh.
I think if Verbeek presented Trouba/ Marner when he talked about top 4 D and Top 6 RW we would have taken it in a heartbeat. So here I am hoping we can make it happen with one year delay. And while we are at it we just draft Hagen eh 👀😅
14,5M would immediately bury us
wow. ducks actually spending money, that’s some hopium I just can’t buy
Marner would be an insane get. We’d definitely be trading either zegras or Mctavish though. There is no way we have Carlson, marner, Z, strike, lundestrom, and mctavish
Id rather splurge on rantaanen
what is this article lol. how do they have a purposed deal on the table when the ducks and marner’s camp aren’t even allowed to talk? Where do they come up with 14.5×7 from?
Then it says the Ducks have to make Anaheim an appealing destination still?
This is just a dumb AI written clickbait article. Marner is not coming here, and we Pat would be stupid to give him that insane deal.
Soft tampering!
Anyway, it certainly would be interesting. idk how many legs this has though. I wouldn’t hate it – he’s a bloody good player. Getting outside of the media circus might be a good thing for him too. But… I’m not sure we have the infrastructure for his style of play. We might have to do a few things before we become an attractive destination for him
I watch the playoffs every year. I scout Toronto players hard. Nylander, Matthews, and Marner are just terrible in the playoffs. They don’t have that extra gear. They don’t get tougher. They don’t get scarier. They’re just…. Awful and predictable.
Especially Nylander. He’s such a puss. Whenever the games don’t go his way, he stops skating. None of the backcheck.
I don’t want any of them in a Ducks jersey.
Not sure why there’s pushback, this would be a no brainer for us. Marners a great player.
0% chance he would come here though
Marner hahahahaha.
Marner seems like the opposite of a Pat Verbeek type of player.
