We found ‘apathetic’ Giants fan who taunted John Mara with an airplane banner. He has lots more to say

Just…wow. I’m apathetic as well. Glad he described it so well. 🫤
1500$? To fly the plane and a message? Wow I thought it would be much higher. LMAO.
Maybe we should start a go fund me and vote on a message to fly over the next home game.
Edit: if I were to fly a plane I would say: Mr. Mara, Nepotism has no place in a meritocracy.
I’m all for embarrassing John Mara but fire everyone is not the right message. Unless everyone includes all the dunderheads (including Maras) in the front office. Which it definitely won’t.
Schoen and Daboll may well be terrible and may well deserve to be fired. But this franchise will continue to rot from the head down. John Mara is the head. The only appropriate message to John Mara is go away and take your whole family with you. And that’s never happening.
“I’m Apathetic” yup same
I found a pathetic Giants fan, in the mirror
I usually love NFL and can watch any 2 teams play. But the Giants being this bad for so long is making me not want to watch at all.
Laid 17 and covered. ‘Nuff said.
Rich asshole does rich asshole things
He’s an idiot
Is anyone else getting real sick of Darius Slayton? He’s obviously the guy who was going around pissing and moaning to the media about DJ and now instead of just avoiding the question he’s taking pot shots at fans because he’s upset they are annoyed with the team.
As if the team itself isn’t embarrassment enough
Fly one over his residence every day
Might as well call me GEN IDGAF.
Paying $1500 to have a plane fly over anywhere does not read as apathy. Apathy is me not watching because I have lost all bop and it’s better for my mental health.
We should threaten to boycott the sponsors in the next banner. That will scare a bunch of people. Tisch will blow a gasket… cause that’s what he cares about.
I agree with this fans sentiments, but apathetic is the worst word to describe him. Like an apathetic person is going to judt not even care, be detached, and just be numb to it all. Taking the initiative to fricken rent a plane and paying $1500 to do so is kind of the opposite of apathetic lol. An apathetic person would just not even care anymore whether the team burns or succeeds. Apathy is that element of depression where you can see a massive explosion in front of you, and see nothing. Or you just jaywalk without caring to look both ways.
Not to be “that guy”, just, words have meaning. Taking such fantatic initiative, to not only pay $1500, but to track down a plane and to craft a message, while having the ego to want your message to be forcibly delivered to every giants fan and personel, is not apathy lol. Apathetic is the giants fan that is so beaten down that when someone asks what he wants mara to do he’d say “who cares, we will fail anyway, because that’s all we do.”
Honestly, the more I think about it the more I kinda feel it’s a bit lame and more about the fan wanting attention. One game was a fun cool moment that gave disgruntled fans something to laugh about. But twice just comes off as petty, wasteful, and egocentric.
So many people are struggling this year, and always do when it’s the Christmas season. it’s kind of tone deaf to waste $3k+ on something so dumb. Like sure, it’s fun when first seeing the plane, but it’s ultimately meaningless excess that makes fans look like entitled brats. It doesn’t accomplish anything, infact, it may even motivate mara to not listen to this fans advice.
The maras already know how upset fans are. The message on this plane is no different to any comment on social media. All it does is enhances the negativity within the giants and their fanbase, and opens up the trend for more people to do this and write dumb messages. It’s more about this singular fan than anything.
For example, look how cheap tickets have been, dude could have paid for dozens of poor kids to see their first giants game. A wonderful holiday message that would give the fanbase something to smile about. Then he could have gotten his own message out through that act of charity. He could have said ….. “Mr mara, please fix the team so the new generation can have a team worth rooting for. Stop breaking their hearts and stealing from their parents, by fielding an abysmal team year in and year out. Because most young fans the past decade have left their first game sad and dissapointed. They deserve joy and wonder.”
Guy could have got out his message in an awesome way that helps kids, while motivating both the maras and the whole fanbase to turn all this negativity into a positive movement that galvanizes both teams and fans. Itd give all fans a good moment, as opposed to a giant negative circlejerk. But instead of positive and hopeful, it’s just the same negative message any fan would write online except done in this grand “main character syndrome” type manner.
This only spreads further negativity, it only gets our star players more disgruntled and more angry. It only enables draft picks to refuse to play here. It only gives the media more ammo to eviscerate out team. This stuff only hurts our rebuild. Mood goes a long way, like look at the bills mafia and how the team rode their positivity early on in the Allen era. Same with the lions. We did so great the first season with daboll because we built that happy hopeful momentum.
Just pouring negativity all over the team helps no one. The maras know the team sucks and needs we, so this doesnt infulence them at all. But itll only make the players more angry at the organization. Do we really want to see players like nabors, dex, and tracy, force their way off the team? Because it’s this type of shit that fuels that.
Mara knows he needs to fix the team, but if you make it an us vs them type thing, he will not fix it out of spite, or double down on a failed vision.
All this accomplishes is it gives this fan their 5 minutes of fame. Its egocentric. If he truly cared about giants fans, he wouldn’t be throwing negativity into everyone’s faces, and actively ruining the experience for tons of kids going to their first games. Because this is the kind of shit that breaks the illusion and totally deflates a young fan.
If you’re apathetic that’s fine, I am too. Just don’t force that negativity onto wide eyed kids and other fans just excited to see their first game. It only feeds this singular fans ego at the expense of increasing toxicity amongst the whole team and fanbase. Its not an insightful message that will give mara an epiphany, it’s the same thing the maras have been hearing from fans all year. When that money Instead can be used on a feel good story, by making dozens of kids christmas seasons, and giving the fanbase a feel good story to inspire hope. While also giving mara the same exact message as the plane, but in a positive manner that pulls his heart strings. As opposed to making it owner vs fans which can only enable more poor decisions by mara.
I’m sure I’ll be downvoted but this is the truth. The plane only gives us something to circlejerk our frustrations with. Otherwise, it’s only effects are negative on the team and fanbase. Let’s not enable this shit since we will get end up with the cringest most narcissistic fans, ruining every game and turning them into competitions on who can one up each other by hijacking the entire game for their own spotlight/attention. When there’s so many positive ways to deliver the same message while bettering our community.
“We’d rather spend $$$ on this sign than on tix for your putrid team”
I’ve become more or less a detached fan. Still my team, but after these recent years, the Giants barely appear on my sports radar. I had to prepare a work presentation today, so the game was on in the background. I don’t think I saw a minute of action I was that disinterested.
Same thing on Thanksgiving. Granted, we were hosting a party of 20 and I do everything from scratch, but I maybe saw 15 seconds of the game. I know I didn’t miss much.
As for actually going to the awful MetLife to watch a game? No interest, even with friends offering tickets.
I would love to have the banner say replace the turf. We have so many injuries every damn year and nothing changes. I know the jets owner also has a say in this but IDC Mara is the owner of big brother make it happen greedy fuck.
Sure it has been tough to be a GIANTS fan the last 12 years, but remember there are teams who have never won a Superbowl, and a bunch of teams only have 1. I’m lucky to have seen all 4 wins.
