Dear Federal Baseball community,
I am Sam Sallick, and I am the new site manager here at Federal Baseball. I am super excited to be a part of this community, and have the opportunity to take this site to the next level and provide great coverage and insights about the Nats. My number one priority here is to create content that is both enjoyable and informative for the fans.
I will start with a little bit about myself. I was born and raised in DC, and have been obsessed with the Nats ever since they came to town when I was a kid. Ever since the RFK days, the Nationals have been a huge part of my life. In 2019, I had a challenging year battling cancer in High School, but the Nationals were always there to sustain me with that incredible World Series run. Nationals baseball has such a special place in my heart, and I am so happy to be writing about it to a community of die hard supporters.
There will be some changes on the content side of this site to reflect my vision. There are going to be in depth stories profiling players and using data to make sense of organizational trends. I want to share as much information as I can to make the community as plugged into the team as possible. I am also going add more opinion based stories that start conversations and foster discussion within the community. I am more than willing to call it as I see it. If I the organization is making mistakes, I will call them out.
I am also going to start a 20th anniversary series that will highlight the players and moments which have defined the Nationals franchise. It will be a fun time to reminisce about some of the forgotten legends that helped make this franchise what it is today.
In addition to the big league team, I want to highlight the farm system as well. In a rebuild, the farm is a major focus of fan attention. With the Nationals securing the number one pick, I will also be doing a series on draft prospects, both at the top of the draft, and later on.
This season is one of the most important in Nationals history. After years of rebuilding, we need to start seeing results on the field. This season will answer a lot of questions, and by the end of the year we will have a much clearer picture on the state of the organization. I am excited to take that journey with this wonderful community.
