If you listen to Quinn in his pregame interview it’s pretty obvious he’s sick. I think the next couple of weeks are going to be a battle.

  1. I heard Shorty talking in one of the last 2 games that the high stick Hughes took has caused him pain when talking, so he’s been talking less. Or something similar.

  2. People scraping the barrel for excuses when we’re just not playing well. I swear we could be in last place by February and people are still gonna be like “Yeah but what about that 1 game we spanked Florida?”

  3. Dude literally sounds exactly like he usually does. His face got fucked from the high stick so that’s why he looks abit weird. Mountain out of molehill here. Even if the dude was sick, he’d give 110% on the ice anyway.

  4. Ya, raspy voice, clearing his throat a bit extra. People don’t realize that COVID (or just a cold) will hang out in your nose/sinuses even if you have all the vax and immunity possible. Will generate a ton of phlegm which gets your throat and cough going. (best thing for it is doing those sinus rinses)

I’m just getting over that process myself, and actually playing hockey last night was great because the exercise and cold opens up all those passages and shit drains out fast. I had decent but not perfect energy as well.

This really is the most reasonable explanation for how bad and slow they looked against the B’s. Locker room issues don’t make you slow to a puck.

  5. I mean I think he’s fine, he looks a little tired from carrying the team on his back but otherwise I think he’s fine. He’s not the most lively person during these interviews and his lip has been hurt as well so I think it’s not anything to speculate about.

  6. His top lip is still incredibly swollen from the high stick. Multiple reporters have said Quinn needed a lot of medical attention and there was quite a bit of damage done. Hence why he’s still wearing the fishbowl and this would obviously impact his speech. However if you’re looking for an interview which shows a sick player, the Myers interview the other day of him coughing all over the place was actually kind of hilarious that he was made available to the media like that. It’s no secret the flu is going around the team.

  7. I just had a cold / bronchitis and playing ice hockey is rough. The cold air + exertion != recovery

  8. He does look tired, and Tocchet said the flu was going around the team. But he’s so deadpan all the time, it’s hard to tell.
