The California Golden Bears and the UNLV Rebels meet for only the second time ever on Wednesday, as SoFi Stadium hosts the fourth edition of the LA Bowl.
For the Atlantic Coast Conference’s Golden Bears, this will be a 26th bowl appearance in program history. Justin Wilcox’s men head into the clash with a 6-6 record, having closed out the regular season with a comprehensive, 38-6 defeat by the SMU Mustangs on November 30.
Meanwhile, the Rebels are 10-3 in 2024 – only the third time that they have managed a 10-win season. However, UNLV were once more beaten to the Mountain West Conference crown by the Boise State Broncos, who on December 6 defeated the Nevadans in the MWC Championship Game for the second straight year.
Preparing for the sixth bowl game in their history, the Rebels head into the LA Bowl with Del Alexander in interim charge, after head coach Barry Odom left to take over at Purdue.
In the only previous meeting between the Golden Bears and the Rebels, California were 20-14 winners in September 2022.
