Thereās been such a PP fandom lately that these ho-hum 30~ point double doubles donāt even get talked about much.
We expect too much from Tatum, itās like āoh 28 points and 12 reboundsā¦ k thenā. Dude is having an insane start to the season.
I think the hate he gets, or why people donāt put him in T1 is because Jokic and Giannis is freaks of nature and Tatum can afford to put up the occasional stinker and the Cās are in good shape.
26 shots to get 28 points. Gets blown by multiple times on defense, bad fouls, doesn’t run back on defense. I mean I watch Pritchard white brown holiday, those guys hustle. You cannot watch every Celtics game and say Tatum plays as hard as those guys do.
Tatum is elite when it comes to driving by people, even though he misses a fair amount of shots at The rim. When he is cooking, he is near impossible to stop one-on-one. And he is getting better about passing but the dude still takes a bunch of horrible shots and the shots he hits are open shots. He keeps doing this fall away with very little success. On many shots he looks like he’s trying harder to get the foul than he is to make the shot??
The dude is so good he can play as inefficient as he does and still be productive. But this doesn’t discount the fact that he has one of the lower basketball IQs that I’ve ever seen out of a highly regarded player. Watch all the times he’s running away from the ball or standing underneath the hoop watching while three or four guys are battling for a rebound. Or for some reason he doesn’t like to challenge shots at The rim sometimes.Ā
From an aesthetic standpoint, the Celtics are much funner to watch when he doesn’t play. The ball moves and there are far less black hole possessions where it’s dribble dribble dribble for 10 to 12 seconds and then hoist up a Fall away three. And why does Tatum get the ball at the end of quarters? He’s not very successful. I’d much rather see you Pritchard or brown or white shooting a shot that comes after the ball moves around.Ā
No need to trade the guy but it would be nice if he played harder and smarter as those things are generally controllable.
