Coco Gauff has been hard at work preparing for an important 2025 season.

The 20-year-old enjoyed some well-deserved time off after winning two of her final three events of the 2024 campaign.

In her final match of the season the American defeated Olympic champion Qinwen Zheng to win the WTA Finals in Riyadh.

This came after Gauff won the China Open, her first tournament after the US Open and with new coach Matt Daly.

Now Gauff is working hard to try preparing for next season where she has her sights set on more Grand Slam glory.

What has Rennae Stubbs noticed about Coco Gauff during the offseason?

Coco Gauff began training for 2025 as early as just after Thanksgiving, which shocked some fans given she won the WTA Finals just three weeks prior.

But the World number three is keen to build on her momentum from the end of the 2024 campaign by putting in the hard years now to hit the ground running when the new season begins.

Impressed with Gauff’s hard work, Rennae Stubbs thinks her end of year form puts her in contention for the Australian Open title.

“Looking at the training schedule right now of Coco Gauff on Instagram she is putting in the work,” Stubbs said on her self-titled Rennae Stubbs podcast.

“I think after the way she finished the way she did that is going to be really interesting to see. I do believe she has absolutely put her hands up to be one of the favorites for the Australian Open.”

Gauff did not win a Grand Slam in 2024, but she came close at the Australian Open.

She reached the semi-finals for the first time, where she was beaten by Aryna Sabalenka. In a close contest, the Belarusian prevailed 7-5 6-4.

Sabalenka went on to successfully defend the title after beating first-time Grand Slam finalist Qinwen Zheng 6-3 6-2.

“A lot of positives to take,” Gauff said after the match. “I didn’t feel like I played bad. I just felt there were certain points that I just didn’t win.

“I prefer this match over the last match that I played. So it’s tough with the result, but I’m trying to look at the positives.”
