Kakko getting trade interest from the wild

  1. Would rather not. He’s been really inconsistent in his career, and I don’t want to add another streaky player when we need dudes who show up at the same level each game. We need dependability more than anything else

  2. i like kakko and the idea makes sense but i feel like it just contributes to the same problem we have. great at maintaining possession, bad at converting that to points. we need a finisher, and tbh i wish we could afford granny

  3. Kakko is damn good at protecting the puck and reminds me a lot of Boldy in how he uses his back to shield himself. But man he just can’t seem to ever finish.

Don’t dislike the player, but I’m hoping we keep our powder dry a little longer to continue evaluating internal options and/or possible bigger fish.

  4. Depends on what it would take to get it done. I have no idea what is going on in the head of Chris Drury. I don’t know what role Kakko would fulfill, but I imagine the Wild feel he’s got a lot more to offer than what the Rangers have pulled out of him.

  5. He gets limited chances and appears to be struggling from pressure. Fresh start could change things irrespective of if he comes to the wild. I’d take him for a mid level prospect or mid round pick and like a johansen. Beyond that I would rather be patient.
Seems rangers fans like his versatility, and that in a different scene with different expectations, he could be a good/great player.

  6. i trust judd and guerin and their team of evaluators. surely they both did their research on the kid when he was drafted. the consensus among rangers fans is this dude was not given the right opportunities by a shitty front office and coach. then again, i have to remember what the “consensus” is among our fanbase on many things.

would we take him over johansson as a rental? $400k difference. idk.

  7. He’s still super young and think a change of scenery has the chance to elevate his game. That said, I’m not sure MN is the right scenery.
