  3. One of the biggest things Atkins was responsible for amidst the turmoil, was getting under the lux tax. I bet it's like 50k under. (It's estimated at about 3m over)

    I'll always say that Votto didn't get called up because of the tax. Couldn't risk a single dollar.

    Getting under saves us 500k of international FA money and a 5th round pick if we sign a FA with a QO. Burnes, Santander, etc..

    (It's still 500k and a 2nd round pick to sign one regardless, But 1m if over the tax)

    Hate Atkins, but getting under the tax is his job and he deserves a huge applause if he makes it.

    Sasaki would be nice..every dollar counts. The Jays have had a relationship with him for many years.

    Tho we already have the top SS committed too …

    Oh, sorry…I meant Yoshihiro Sasaki, a 28-year-old submarine reliever with a 4.78 ERA in the Independent Baseball League of Uganda. The analytics department really likes his potential and Pete Walker thinks he sees something in Sasaki's delivery that he can work with.

  9. I'm completely and utterly disgusted with the Blue Jays management/owner. No Bo or Vladdy, but believing for some reason that other stars will want to come here for ANY amount of money…chasing rainbows.

    2. League best defence which will only help improve his numbers and get him a big payday when he is eventually an MLB free agent
    3. The Jays don’t have a reputation for wrecking guys arms, their SPs aren’t abused and stay mostly healthy

    I think these things would help attract Sasaki. I don’t think the Jays are favourites but I think they have a good chance

  20. lets play a new game, instead of reporting on "what ifs" and "maybes" and "there's smoke over dem hills", lets just not report anything at all, we're all getting f*cking sick at this front office banging their heads against the wall and telling us everything is going A-Okay when we're likely going to be losing both Bo and Vlad and becoming a basement dwelling team for the next decade or so…
