3. Bellinger can opt out after the 2025 season, and is a free agent after the 2026 season. If Bellinger didn't cost much, he would've been a nice lefty bat for a 2025 postseason push. He could've bailed with his optout if Bo and Vlad weren't returning in 2026 and Toronto looked bleak going forward. All parties involved would've been happy.

No pitcher in baseball over the past two seasons seasons has both a higher k/9 rate (11.04) and a lower WHIP (1.12) than Nick Pivetta If you dial it back to 250 innings the only pitchers are Chris Sale and Tyler Glasnow. Gives up home runs that his Achilles heel. Put Pivetta in Seattle or San Francisco and he is a top 10 pitcher in either league. His Stuff+ which is a metric of pitch values for pitches is significatly higher than Snell, Fried and Burnes. He very well might be the most underrated player in the MLB.

11. The fact that Vlad Jr. is a first baseman, it will put a ceiling on his value. I'd agree that $500 mil for 12-15 yrs is about the max (in today's dollars). He may go for 12 years at $450.

21. Bellinger was the perfect shot for the Jays to give hope to the fans. Belli could have covered CF until Varsho is 100%, spelled Vladdi at first, and slotted into the middle of the order. And all he would have cost was money. Good, because the Jays have nothing to offer in return. The J's should have offered to pick up 100% of Bellinger's contract and they would have some kind of direction this off season. Or last hope is to back up the truck for Houston castoff Alex Bregman. Bregman gives a middle if the order bat and his glove fits the run prevention philosophy of Atkins/Shapiro. How else can they drastically improve the lineup?
