Offside Tavern is closing again

  1. That bar never should have been in NYC, and immediately should replace Belmont hall. Or at least come in at the UBS village.

  2. This location as an Islanders bar was not good. It was far from the subway and midtown. I went once it it was full of people from the EV who used it as a local bar and not necessarily an Islander bar. The area to watch the game was very narrow. So you could not get a ton of people in the space seeing the game. Hopefully they can find a new location that is more accessible.

  3. I enjoyed the original Offside and it made the 18-19 year so much more magical. Isles Seat was still a thing and YesMen had just started to take off. It’s hard to recoup the magic of Tator Trotz and all. Wish Nick the best!

  4. If they can open up near the cross island, that would be amazing. I’m in Westchester and there’s zero islander bars around here, meanwhile a ton of isles fans. There’s a CT meetup but it’s far. By the cross island would allow long islanders to get there, people from Westchester to get there, if it’s near a subway or LIRR stop, people from the city… plus it would get people to go after and before a game

  5. yeah, they really need to open on the Island… at this point, NYC is not viable… all the best to them

  6. TBH the first spot was awesome – pretty wide open space, easy to get to, great vibe, and also honestly seemed like the owners were more into it in the way it was promoted. When this one opened I remember seeing a coming soon, no updates on when they would be opening, and then one day I looked and they were finally open but never saw them really promoting anything about it the last two years. Location also sucked for anyone not in the LES. It also doesn’t help that this place opened when apathy about this team was at an all time high.
