Penny Hardaway stated he wants #1 in the Kia Center rafters. “Both number ones, McGrady and Hardaway need to be up in there.” Penny added “we need to do it on the same night cuz that’s my dawg.”

  1. I think JI would change his number to 45 or 47 with no problem if they approached him about it.

  2. I always thought they should limit it to superstars. Kinda like how 88 is reserved for elite WRs with the Cowboys.

  3. Is this a safe space? I don’t think we should’ve retired Shaq’s, or at least not first.

  4. Penny deserves his number retired cause he did a great job being injured and demanding a monster contract. Didn’t he lead a mutiny against a coach? And then he forced a trade out of town. Fuck Penny.

  5. Couldn’t agree more. Also Nick Anderson and Howard. Watched “This Magic Moment” again today on Netflix. The kids really don’t know how good Penny was before he hurt his knee and Jason Kidd ruined his career by suppressing him on two separate goddamn teams.

  6. That would be so dope, these 2 were my favorite Magic. Heck, TMac’s the reason why I started playing ball.

  7. This would be so great and I agree 100%.

My personal Magic Mt. Rushmore is:

    1. Shaq – self evident.

    2. McGrady – people forget just how good he was as there was legitimate talk of Jordan-esque levels of talent circa 2002-2003.

    3. Hardaway – again, under-the-radar, mold-breaking 6-7 PG.

    4. Howard – self evident again.

Honorable mention: Hedo Turkoglu, Vince Carter

My list is based on what these guys contributed to us, not talent level overall. For example, Grant Hill was great, but only played more than 60 games for us twice and didn’t contribute as much as the guys I mentioned.

    What’s everyone else’s list?

  8. I wanna see Nick Andersons number retired. First ever draft pick and has been a part of the organization forever.

  9. I knew this sh*t would happen if they retired Shaq’s jersey. Now we’ll probably have to retire Dwight’s as well. Soon we’ll look like Miami, where they’ll retire anybody’s jersey
