“It just looks like a normal shoulder to shoulder hit. There’s some contact to the helmet, I don't see him lower his head or make forcible contact to the opponent. I really don't see a foul there” – Terry McAuly

  1. I think the problem for me is simply that both players lower their helmets and it’s just as much a foul for the runner to do that as it is for the tackler. So to me, it’s either offsetting fouls or none at all. A “no foul” call really benefits the Broncos on this one since it was a good gain.

    NFL rules:
    > **Article 10. Impermissible Use Of The Helmet**

    > It is a foul if a player:

    > a) lowers his head and makes forcible contact with his helmet against an opponent; or
    > b) uses any part of his helmet or facemask to butt or make forcible contact to an opponent’s head or neck

    > These provisions do not prohibit incidental contact by the mask or the helmet in the course of a conventional tackle or block on an opponent.

    > **Penalty: Loss of 15 yards. If the foul is by the defense, it is also an automatic first down. The player may be disqualified.**

  2. I hate the Chargers as much as anyone but this is simply football. That was a bad call because both guys lower their helmets

  3. Not a foul – both players lowered head and realistically the running back lowered his head first and lower. Bad call..

  4. I was surprised that Watson passed concussion protocol after that. he looked wobbly right after that hit.

  5. Can we talk about the hit on Herbert’s slide. The defender anticipated the fairly late slide clearly gave up on the hit and Dover OVER him. They barely made contact. If you’re going to get 15 for that you might as well just go for the quarterbacks head. Major call in the call. Enraging

  6. Neither player did anything wrong it’s just a stupid rule to have in the game of football. Suits want to pat themselves on the back about making football safer, and stop themselves from getting sued in the future.
