I don't disagree

  1. Not only was he struggling to hit, he missed half of the season because of his PED use and acted like he had no idea how it got in his system when he addressed it

  2. I mean, was there anyone who thought it was his job to lose based off of his performance last season?  I think most of us were assuming that a competition for playing time was his best case scenario.

  3. Which makes sense. Obviously he hasn’t done anything real productive since coming back, let him work for it. You’ve got Candy still unless you trade him (and he also left a game recently due to injury so hope he’s okay) and if you manage to get 2 OFs then Steer can come back to the infield, even though I’d prefer him at first base

  4. I liked Marte at first cause I was excited to have a long term third baseman, but the dude’s kind of a bum after the PED situation.

  5. Looking at his Winter League stats, he better turn the corner soon or we need to find a starting third baseman. There’s a guy named Alex Bregman still out there.

  6. Between the PED crap, the fact that it looked like he didn’t do shit prepping on his own during the suspension, his general lack of performance, Bell & Co. just letting him claim his spot on the roster, and his apparent greater interest in his yellow accents than honing his craft I pretty much have had it up to here with Marte. If there’s a new approach to him then good I say. I’d love to flip him for whatever we can get but don’t think the Reds can really afford to just cat him off.
