  1. Wouldn't need to execute on special teams if this team wasn't so fundamentally ineffective thanks to Lalonde's system. Every single team in this league can pin the Wings in their zone for over a full minute because even when someone disrupts the puck movement it's immediately thrown away with the most predictable, easily defended clearing attempt along the boards. This team loses so many 50/50 pucks and puck battles, they don't hit, and they don't forecheck. The offense is whatever random line Lalonde threw out there, skating around in circles and passing until someone gets double teamed and his teammates stand around waiting to see what happens. They do so many things poorly. Every other team makes hockey look so much easier than this team does. This roster has scraped out 13 wins in spite of Lalonde's style of hockey, not because of it.

  2. the Seider/Chiarot pair had 5-0 corsi, 5-0 fenwick, 3-0 sog, and 1-0 scoreboard tonight w the Copp Cat Kane line, but it was almost all in the 1st period. they only got 2 minutes together all game, the 1st d pair and 2nd line. after that great period together Lalonde intentionally refused to play them together. when you go check Mo's 5v5 analytics by linemates tonight you'll notice something – the 2nd line is the one he was with the least tonight by a gigantic margin. he was with every other line more often, including the 4th line. and every other line he was with, him and Chiarot got wrecked. and every other d pair that 2nd line was with, they got wrecked and were hemmed in. it just doesn't make any sense. they didn't even need like full possession or exclusive pairing w the top d pair. but to be 4th by a distant margin? it's absurd. and Mo probably thought it was absurd too. if you're that good together in the 1st period, that should lead to more time together in subsequent periods, not less. so. what is the deal here? Derek can sit there and say he tried to get them out in offensive situations as the game went on, but the d pairings they were with do not agree with that statement. he did finally get them back with Seider/Chiarot once very late after MTL took the lead, but by then it was too little too late. that line could have and should have had multiple goals tonight. but they were hemmed in bc of amateur hour on defense.

  3. This coach is an absolute clown. Theres no way the players respect him, how could you? Yzerman is at fault for this mess not the players. And his horrendous off-season just adds ro it. Hes a shit GM
