This Trade Is Getting Even Better For The Raptors

The Toronto Raptors were perhaps rightfully criticized when they traded Pascal Siakam to the Indiana Pacers as the team failed to capitalize on the players’ value. However, things have changed since then, especially for the Indiana Pacers which could all of a sudden out this move in a much better light for Masai Ujiri’s front office.

  1. On top of those draft options we process moving forward.. we still consolidated last season and landed JKW, not too shabby considering he was a projected lottery pick himself.

  2. It's like when we traded Bargnani, and unexpectedly got 2016 lottery pick (Jakob).

Then funny enough, we trade a 2024 lottery pick to get Jakob back.

A "circle of life" moment in the NBA.

  3. ive got to be completely honest, I love the points you made but I very much think the pacers are turning their season around by getting healthier. I still think we lost the trade, and pretty badly too.

  4. We got nothing for Lowry, nothing for Freddie and nothing for Pascal. All because Masai thought we could actually win anything with those guys leading the team after Kawai left. We should have blow it up and started the rebuild right away.

  5. Unless the 2026 pick via Indiana hits.. This has not been a good trade.. The OG Trade was much better. For Brown they won't get much base in the 23 million he is making. Should trade him last deadline.. Lots of Great Second rounders. We could have Had Aj Michell.. Jalen Wellness in the second Round with couple of Knicks second..and fillers. This was a miss opportunity for the Raps

  6. I like Siakim but he was too expensive and your getting him at the end of his prime. His play will diminish with an increasing salary. The Raptors won the trade by not having to pay him. For me the return was great because you got a lot for a rental. You weren't going to resign Siakim, so the return was great. You got 3 first round picks plus a veteran center. You saved a lot of money. The quality of these players made the team better today and tomorrow. You still might get something decent for Brown. Who knows, maybe he comes back and plays great. He seems to like being here on this team, maybe he'll re-sign. You never know things can change quickly.
With the knicks trade you got two quality developed players that you needed to pay really well because they are no longer rookies. We were lucky that the knicks acquired so many quality draft pics that they couldn't sign everyone. The Raptors took advantage of that and it was a great move. Like I've said before this is a young team that needs time to develop. Potentially adding two top ten first round picks next year will help a lot. It's a deep draft and we can pick up at least three quality players. This is setting things up nicely for this Raptors team for the next decade.

  7. This is why I have suggested with a good draft this year and Indy about 15-16th pick we reach out to them before draft and say if you want your 2026 pick back which greatly helps them with future draft flexibility / trade flexibility we could take the player from their 2025 pick plus the 2027 2nd pick from Utah.
Why for us we jump start our rebuild with 2 first round players this year and try to fill some of our holes. Big wing and development C
The pacers get draft flexibility which translates to trade flexibility. Right now they can’t trade any first picks until the 28 pick. They have a window with PS and with this move they could trade some of their younger assets and what ever they need to getting a third star if one come available?

  8. The frustrating part of the Siakam deal was hanging onto him until his value was lower. More frustrating is they look like they’re gonna repeat that mistake with Poeltl. Their asset management has been brutal since the championship.

  9. SInce the year the Raptors won the championship they have made many many poor decisions about player personell to the point that they need changes in who is managing the team.

  10. Looking forward to the 2026 draft pick as well because Dybansta & Boozer are both fire picks!

If not Flagg for 2025, then getting at least Dybansta or Boozer for 2026 would be a huge leap for us!

Us Raptor’s fan has just to be very patient. Championships take time to achieve for sure.

  11. What did the Raptors get. An oft injured Bruce Brown and 3 late 1st round draft picks. The Pacers fleeced the Raps.Siakim is the best player in the trade. Another Raptor propoganda channel!!

  12. i dont know whats wrong with this team anymore, just cant get a good break from injuries. rigged calls from corrupt refs is given already. just looking forward to getting top 3 picks if we dont get cooper flagg.

  13. Its nice to try to find a silver lining in all this but mgmt waited waaaaay too long to trade him. We shudda got a haul. Waited too long with fred and trent too

  14. Anyone that cant see the future the raptors have set up for themselves really have no clue what they are talking about. People trashing scottie who can average damn near triple double with over 20 pts a game!!

  15. If we had Siakam we would be in the playoffs easy. Instead we got bums and injured players how we win on the trade? Only the OG and McDaniels brought good trades. Stop glazing players that make your record 7-21 lol. Its amazing how delulu people are. This team lacks defense and stars everyone else in the nba sees that instead of the delulu fans. Even Masai says we are very far from competing. You traded a all nba for all bench and benchwarmers or gleague players in other teams lol gratz

  16. The only trade that Masai made that will always be a huge L was the Jakob trade. It made absolutely zero sense at the time and even less now in hindsight.

  17. Bad take. Siakam took the Pacers to the Conference Finals last year. This year they have injuries but are getting healthier and beat Phoenix in AZ so they will be a problem in the 2nd half of the season.
Raptors management made a lot of mistakes especially with our past "Bench Squad"; Siakam, Van Vleet, Powell, Anonuby, Poetl – all should have been kept and re-signed to extensions as early as possible so it could be more affordable. I think they made the same mistake that OKC did after they went to the Finals in 2012 in disbanding the unit that got them there. We actually were champions and had the blueprint for success which is what hurts more with this rebuild as we lose so many close games.
