Rangers tough guy Matt Rempe was offered an in-person hearing by the NHL for boarding/elbowing Stars defenseman Miro Heiskanen on Friday night. 

Rempe had drilled Heiskanen into the boards midway through the third period as he went to play along the boards. 

The hit earned Rempe a five-minute major and a game misconduct while a scrum broke out as Heiskanen’s teammates attempted to come to his aid. 

A player is offered an in-person hearing when if a suspension could be six games or more.

“I thought he led off a little bit at the end. He’s just such a big guy,” head coach Peter Laviolette said after the game. “We killed the five, and we’re moving on.”
