More rumors about Fedde, including Matz, from the Cardinals. I personally like them going after Fedde and think a trade involving Arias would be great as I think Arias fits with their rebuild. We would have to give up more for Fedde but could get something in return for Matz. I used to like Matz but he’s probably no more than a swing man reliever at best. Fedde would be a solid 3.

Bibee, Williams, Fedde, Ortiz, and Lively is a solid five to start the year. McKenzie will more than likely be gone and Canitllo would start in AAA where he should.

  1. It’s a good fit bc both organizations like control over stuff pitchers. The arms we added from the Pirates gives us some wiggle room to move pitching prospects

I don’t see how Arias fits tho. They have Winn at SS, and he will play as many games as he is healthy. If we could get Donovan and Fede that does many more sense

  2. Fedde is interesting but I do wonder if he’s ever going to be more than the third guy in a rotation. For us, depending on Bibee’s and Williams’s development, with Bieber back, he could be the fourth guy ahead of Ortiz or Lively.

  3. a rotation full of #3 starters. Can’t wait to get swept by the Yankees in the ALCS. So excited!

  4. Feel like this org has one more major move up their sleeve this winter and then they’re done. I’d much rather see that move come in the form of acquiring another OFer as opposed to another 3/4/5 type starter.

Find a deal for Jake MCarthy or Taylor Ward.

  5. Fedde makes sense all around if the ask isn’t crazy. I don’t see any reason to touch Matz.

That being said i think they’d take both these guys for a year at $20m over paying Castillo 75/3 like people were suggesting.
