It’s really frustrating to see a game like tonight where Miller’s line was generating offence largely due to the Hughes minutes they get, but also got caved in (he was on the ice for 2 of 3 5v5 Sens goals, and 4 of 5 Sens goals on the night), while Pettersson successfully babysat the other defence pairs (the only goal he was on the ice for was the Sens’ SHG, and he won the faceoff which *should* have given the Canucks possession) but his line’s offensive-zone time kept dying when Forbort would pass the puck right into Ottawa shin pads or something lol. I don’t even know what you do with the personnel that we currently have, because one of Miller/Pettersson is going to have to play a lot of non-Hughes minutes and while you’d want them to be able to drive play during that time, it’s just not really happening right now.

    At least we got a point and there definitely wasn’t anything else that happened tonight to fuel further drama

    What we have here is a man who is about to enter the next level. Being in on 75% of the points tonight as per usual. We have a McDavid on defense.

    I think if Hughes finishes less +/- 5 points from Makar, Hughes will take the Norris and be a strong candidate for Hart.

    The next a closest Canuck is Pettersson at 26 points.

    Makar is 3rd in scoring on his team and MacKinnon has 55 points. So the gap is quite drastic and Makar isn’t their best player.

  6. regardless of each players performance, I believe that Hughes and Myers need to play less, and Forbot/Desharnais/Soucy/Juulsen need to play more. I believe that we would be sacrificing a bit of offense from Hughes for a better performance from the other 5

    I know on a surface level people will say it’s stupid to give someone playing like Forbort more ice time but to me our bottom 4 are always ice cold every time they come off the bench because they barely play.

  7. Tocchet presser mentions that JT was to blame for the OT winner, said he lost his man, said he told the team that Ottawa were gonna reload and they didn’t execute.

    Also said he didn’t know why JT wasn’t available for media availability, didn’t know where he was.

  12. Worst part of tonight was having to hear those fucking sens fans hollering the whole way out after the GWG. I wouldn’t be so annoyed if the loudest one didn’t sound like the bald robber from Home Alone but holy shit what a grating voice

  14. We have not won a single game in OT on home ice this season. It contributed to our poor home ice record. If we win half of those, the home ice record and overall record would be a different story.

  16. What a waste of a Huggy masterclass, but at least we managed to grab a point? Shoutout to Boeser and PDG as well, really solid night for both of them. Wish I could say I was surprised at the loss but skate jerseys and home games are always a recipe for disaster lmao. We’re now 6-7-5 at home (0-6-0 in OT), and 3-0-7 after regulation. I’m starting to feel bad for the seasons ticket holders, for having to witness performances like these game after game.

    Miller my guy move your skates and stop being a lazy motherfucker on defence, how the fuck do you keep losing your guy. Way too many defensive lapses from him, just cause he didn’t want to back-check.

    Forbort, Soucy, Heinen, Desharnais, Myers and Juulsen were actual fucking dogshit, it’s like they forgot how to play hockey. But holy hell what was that high stick from Juulsen during crunch time that caused blood? Like come on dude. Hope Allvin has something cooking up in regards to trades, because we’re not making a post season run with half of our d-core as pylons.

    Lankinen with a bit of an off night, but you brush those off and move on. He’s been out of this world for us so far this season though, so I’ll let his performance slide.

  19. Honestly this is all kinda feeling very Colorado 2013-14-15. Just won the division, Roy won the Adams, they made the playoffs for the first time in four years and then they fell apart the next season.

  21. All out guys need to up the conditioning why are we even thinking about a change whent there’s only 49 seconds left in the third when we are tied. What are you saving the energy for the overtime you will now have to play because you didn’t keep the pressure on?

  22. Not sure what happened with miller, but he’s caved in on himself this year and it’s not improving. I can’t know the guy, but I didn’t think his character would really be the type to play with a pissy energy because of a problem with a teammate. Toc suggesting he just disappeared after the game from the locker room is also a shitty move, it really has me thinking a change of scenery would be a good thing for him and the Canucks.

  31. The D is holding this team back so much it is unreal. When Hughes isn’t in the ice this team doesn’t even look wild card caliber, like forwards constantly having to cover for a bunch of d-men has caused lots of disarray this year.

  33. I don’t say this often but damn we needed a save today, lankinen let quite a few weak goals in which was tough, on the other end that forbert and desharnais pairing was brutal, we are looking like a non playoff team at this point, guess we’re going to have a “long” summer

  35. A lot of criticism on our d, but a zone system that leaves one guy to win a puck in our zone, and make an outlet pass is alot to ask.
