2 Elvin Hayes
3 Earl Monroe
4 Gilbert Arenas
5 Gus Johnson
6 Phil Chenier
7 Moses Malone
8 Bob Dandridge
9 Archie Clark
10 Rod Strickland
11 John Wall
12 Bradley Beal
13 Bernard King
14 Juwan Howard
15 Walt Bellamy
16 Don Ohl
17 Michael Jordan
18 Antawn Jamison
19 Caron Butler
20 Jeff Malone
21 Terry Dischinger
22 Michael Adams
23 Chris Webber
24 Jeff Ruland
25 Jack Marin
26 Bailey Howell
27 Russell Westbrook
28 Larry Hughes
29 Kyle Kuzma
30 Marcin Gortat
30 is rough
How can you even consider having wall outside of your top 10. Like what?
It’s a trick question.
There is only one Wizards player to wear #30, and it was Earl Barron.
Mike Bibby, Dwight Howard, Jabari Parker, Isaiah Thomas, et al
Gilbert Arenas Antawn Jamison Caron Butler John Wall Bradley Beal Rod Strickland Wes Unseld Elvin Hayes Chris Webber Juwan Howard Rasheed Wallace Tim Legler Manute Bol Muggsy Bogues Robert Pack Walt Bellamy Gus Johnson Earl Monroe Phil Chenier Gheorghe Muresan Jeff Ruland Jeff Malone Harvey Grant Tom Gugliotta Jerry Stackhouse Javale McGee Daniel Gafford Rex Chapman Tracy Murray Darvin Ham
Yeah. If I am going the criticize & switch around, I will put my money where my mouth is. But I am only going to do top 10.
4 Hall of Famers spent significant portions of their careers here. Based on that time I put them in order, boy was 1-2 harder than any other ranking.
1 Elvin Hayes
2 Wes Unseld
3. Gus Johnson
4. Earl Monroe
5. Walt Bellamy (3 of his 5 best years with the Bullets). HOFer.
Just based on the consistent playoff runs, 2X making the semis, I have to have them next:
6. Wall
7. Beal
Now it gets harder. Because being among the best players in the NBA at the time doesn’t translate into being the best Teams.
8. Gilbert Arenas 3X All Star. In 8 seasons with the Wizards, he had 4 great seasons: 1st Season 7^(th) in ppg, 4^(th) in NBA ppg in seasons 2, 3 …. 4th season 4^(th) in ppm, plays in 15 games over seasons 5 & 6, starts 47 games season 8 and 9. Getting swept in the semis by the Heat (Shaq’s Heat but not the Championship team) his first season, him being the main guy, puts him here barely over Moses but it is close. 3 other first round exits to LeBron’s Cavs (which never won a Championship).
9. Moses Malone All Star 2X in 2 great seasons w. Bullets. 2 Washington Seasons. Season 1 : 9th in the NBA Pts per game 9^(th) in RBs per game, only player to finish in the top 10 in both ppg and rpg (MJ, Magic, Larry, Barkley all of the Dream team are playing) Season 2: 19^(th) in ppg, 4^(th) in RBs per game. Lost to the Bad Boys Boy Pistons in the 1^(st) Rnd of the playoffs both years, but he was +20/10 both playoff series.
10. Phil Chenier how does being the little brother no.3 when you have 2 big brother HOFers make this list? I would say 3 All Star, 8th in WAS minutes played, 5th in WAS field goals, ROY, He earned it. A little suss. But him being no. 3 Teams went further in the Playoffs and were NBA better than Caron and Jamison’s Teams and they would be considerations here.
Jeff Malone, CWebb and Juwan not being on this list is a little criminal but I am not sure who I would drop for them & in a true 30 I would look for mentions of Mahorn, Ballard and Ruland.
