Got this bat as a kid after a spring training game. Anyone know whose bat this was? (Aroldis Chapman was on the reds at that time)
December 23, 2024
One of the staff gave this to me after the game because it was broken. Never figured out who’s bat it was because I wasn’t paying attention to broken bats that much during the game. Wondering if anyone would have a guess to who’s bat this could have been. Thanks.

No but I’ll happily downvote you
Chapman’s old bat was black and blue

What year was it?
That’s Dave Sappelt!
Drew Sutton is the only one from the regular season rosters that looks anything like this, that i can find
2 mediocre guesses – dylan axelrod or didi gregorious
Could be tough if it’s spring training because it could’ve been someone who didn’t even make the team. Maybe post to the Reds sub and see if they can give better guesses.
Played for the Reds in 2011 and was traded in the offseason with Travis Wood and Ronald Torreyes to the Cubs for Sean Marshall, so you probably got it Spring Training 2011. He had an alright 2012 season for the little amount of games he played, but struggled in 2013 and was DFA’d. Bounced around the minors afterwards and played for some non-MLB leagues, but hasn’t played professionally since 2018.

Dave Sappelt? He was on the 2011 team
This looks to be one of Dave Sappelt’s bats. His [signature](https://www.ebay.com/itm/354734451066) matches the one engraved on this bat.

Dave Sappelt is my guess.
Played OF for Cincinnati in 2011, which fits your time frame – and [the autograph looks like a match ](https://images.app.goo.gl/rzBKMQeS73rTZdxAA)
Shohei Ohtani
Enrico Palazzo had a comeback that year. For sure his bat.
That bat is all marked up from hitting balls, so must have been from the visiting team. Who were they playing?
