  1. The Rangers only had 7 even strength shots today. It’s gonna be an awkward Christmas at the Laviolette household. 😂😂😂

  2. My hometown team, the Jets, are sitting pretty at the top and my favorite team in the East right behind them. I’ve never experienced this much happiness as a hockey fan.

  3. Besides a 5-0 curb stomping against the Rags with 12 shots …Seeing Jack smile at the Jumbotron with Kakko was the best Christmas gift ever.

  4. If anyone is looking for a good laugh, there was a Rangers fan on BR that actually tried to accuse the Devils of playing “goon hockey” today.

  5. Not that I want him to go because I love what he’s doing with them, but this has to be it for Laviolette right?

Because this wasn’t just a loss, this wasn’t just a beatdown, this was a fundamental rejection of the way they want to play hockey. Frankly we weren’t even playing the same sport today.

  6. Ive said it before and I’ll say it again… being shutout when you dominate the other team isn’t sustainable or anything to worry about. This team fucks! And we are seeing that the way they play hockey and buy in is more important than alleged panic potentials in a “bad goalie” or “bad shooting”.

  7. Had a thought on the PATH ride home, does the start of the Devils <=20 shots against streak coincide with the announcement of Jacques Lemaire joining the Ring of Honor?

I really hope the Devils set up in the trap on the first chance in that game, would be the perfect tribute.

  8. Going to the game on Friday, first time seeing the Devils play in person in about a decade since I lived in Jersey. Very hyped. Keep these elite vibes rolling!

  9. Shame we’re not gonna be able to match up with this absolute clown show of a franchise in the playoffs. Would’ve been nice to get a first round bye.

  10. I mean they are not just winning right now, they absolutly dominate every team. And even in the recent losses to the Leafs and Columbus they were the way better team – those are outlier losses that can happen but it was not due to bad play.

What a freaking blast this game was.

Merry Christmas to all Devils fans and this glorious organization!

  11. Very hockey today. Loved it. Physical. Tough defense. All 4 lines went to work in their zone. Power play got back going in the right direction. PK looked insane. No complaints.

Wish list? Bastian was working, wish he could have got one. Still wishing for cotter to pot one.

  12. The Rags players are giving off NY Jets energy rn. Something is seriously rotten in that organization and it can’t just be Drury.

  13. After last game I wasn’t sure if I wanted a Markstrom or Noesen jersey. Today’s game didn’t make that any easier.

  14. I am a fan from “back in the day” NJ Devils dominating the league and dare I say this feels a lot like that. Can’t say enough about the job Fitz did bringing in all the pieces, what Keefe is doing with this team, the overall compete level and enthusiasm that these guys have . It’s been so fun to watch so far! Today was the perfect Christmas gift wrapped up in a bow for Devils fans. Keep it up boys!!

  15. Rangers fans are such a meme that they’re bringing up 94 in this season.

    >”There are only 3 teams in NHL history that went from President’s Trophy to not making the playoffs the next year… Rangers 1991-1992—failed to make 1992-1993 playoffs. Sad that we’re likely going to make this list twice, but also, did anything good happen the following year for the Rangers the last time this happened to them??”

I don’t know how they do it. Every thing leads to 94.

  16. One of the best games I’ve ever been to. Insane energy in the crowd.

Unrelated – was it like 90 degrees in the rock today or what? Seemed like they were blasting the heat

  17. https://preview.redd.it/inp5ay222p8e1.jpeg?width=1179&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=73ccdf29286c98245660e8fb6d8ce8fb4d7f321b

I’ve been using Moneypuck a lot this season, and overall I’ve found advanced stats to be really helpful in understanding the game deeper… but I just can’t make this make sense lol. Even after re-reading how the meter works, I refuse to accept what I think the “explanation” is — basically, that Markstrom goalied them, and that Quick was ass. For sure, Markstrom was lights out and Quick wasn’t exactly great, but I think our skaters were noticeably dominant, for probably 50+ minutes of this game.

Obviously stats are just stats, and in the end the W (and these awesome vibes), are what matter. But I nonetheless had to point this out for any other stat heads who are puzzled.

  18. Ruff gets a ton of slander but I feel like he elevated Jacks game. The same can be said for Keefe with Luke.

  19. Also to add, when you watch the hilites reel keep an eye on quicks face after each goal , he looks fed up and razzled

  20. And of course ESPN+ refuses to have the game on demand. Absolutely putrid service sometimes I swear!

  21. Not sure if this has been mentioned already but I was just checking some stats and the Devils are now 1st in goals against per game with 2.46. Jets at second with 2.47. We’re also second in shots against per game only behind the Kings, and with the way we’re playing, I can see us being first in that category very soon

  22. This team was already scary but if Timo starts turning into the Timo of March last season then the entire league is in trouble. 4g3a in his last 5 games. Watch out

  23. Boston took care of business against the Caps so the Devils will be first place in the Metro for Christmas. Canes are also currently losing after 2 periods, so potential to create some gap there too. I say that a bit hesitantly because I don’t really trust Nashville to hold the lead lol.
