"Sometimes I start, sometimes I don't start," Kuminga said. "Don't really affect me. [At] this point in my career, I can't put my head down and not go out there and play hard or try to be effective. I just go out there and do my job because I can't even worry about things like that. The more you worry about things like that, the more you fail."

"I'm used to it," Kuminga added of starting and not starting. "From where I come from, you always got to be mentally tough. A lot of people that are playing … if they were in my shoes, they'll quit basketball. They'll need a therapist. They'll go through a lot of mental situations. But that thing don't affect me. As long as I go out here every day and just play, be with my teammates, [they] keep encouraging me to be who I am every day."

  1. lol he’s so out of touch with reality. 99.99% of the population would trade jobs with him

  2. Feel this.

A lotta people woulda quit posting to r/nba if they’ve been through what I’ve been through. Playoff game threads. The Reddit Cares reports. Downvotes for speaking straight truth to agenda-pushers, oldheads, homers, and nephews.

I’m still out here though. Ain’t makin no vet minimum neither.

  3. Thought he was about to reveal he had a debilitating back injury or some shit. No one is quitting basketball because they are moved around the rotation on one of the deepest teams in the league lol

  4. You won a title in your rookie year and get paid dozens of millions to live in San Francisco.

  5. At 1st I thought he was being a drama queen, until I thought about Draymond. Dealing with that for years, you would need a therapist

  6. I kinda want to get it – even at elite level, the players are still just people.

Everything they do is not a given, it’s hard and it takes incredible confidence to step into the light.

But maaan, there’s thousands of players going through same or worse in minor leagues with little to no hope at bench spot in NBA. Pro sports are hard and he has already won, in a sense.

  7. Dude makes $90,000 a game. Even if he sits on the bench.

I swear basketball players might be the absolute biggest divas on the planet. Kuminga must be listening to too much Draymond drone on and on about how hard it is to be a basketball player.

Get fucking real. You’re playing a children’s game. Come back down to earth.

  8. This is the last year of his rookie contract and they couldn’t agree on an extension during the offseason, so he is obviously not very happy with getting benched

  9. I too would have quit if I was making 6 million dollars annually. Just kidding what the hell?

  10. Dude has ‘was driving for uber and playing for the Enid Outlaws a few years ago’ Lindy Waters on his team grinding away after being traded for peanuts and has the balls to say something like this. I’m so done with Kuminga, he’s a clown.

  11. Is this the most spoiled take of all time? Does he really believe he is suffering out there so much that that warrants quitting basketball

  12. lol kuminga is delusional but like dangerously delusional. They just benched draymond for you dude.

  13. He’s also not a native english speaker I believe. So learning that too.

    Good luck young man!

  14. Remember that this guy rejected a $30M/yr contract in the offseason because he wanted the max. Fuck this diva shit.

  15. i watch a guy water jet shit pipes on youtube, his job is mostly to clear sewage back ups aka plumber but specialty. like human shit. you play a game for money kuminga . get over it.

  16. besides everything else wrong with this quote, the thing that bugs me is Jonathan Kuminga isn’t that good. like by no stretch of the imagination has he proved that he’s a no-brainer starter in this league.

  17. 99% of the players in the league would rather be in his position.

The patience of the Warriors for a guy who might just be a career rotational player is astounding.

  18. Comments telling a mfer from Congo that he doesn’t get how tough life can be 😭

Thats what he is literally saying, he is not bothered by starting/being benched lol he agrees with yall

  19. This is some whiny bullshit. Caitlin Clark is out there practically getting sucker punched every game and handling it like a class act while this dude is crying about his spot on the rotation. Buck the fuck up man. You want more minutes, then fucking earn them.

  20. I normally don’t say this but Kuminga shut the fuck up man. you get paid millions of dollars to dribble a basketball and all you’ve had to deal with is having your minutes fluctuate. shit is NOT that bad

  21. Many would quit my job by now if they had to deal what I’ve been through. This man is tone deaf.

  22. He has a right to feel that way but to think you have it worse and that you’re in uncharted territory where others would quit already is negative thinking. He’s not tough mentally and obviously have doubts if he is cognitively reframing his situation like this.

  23. “What he’s been through”? Not starting? That’s it?

Mental midget with this sense of entitlement? Nah, dude. I don’t know of too many GOOD players that quit because they were not on the court when their numbers didn’t justify the playing time. FOH with that!
