My daughter got this for me for Christmas. I almost cried.

  1. That’s really cool. That was an all-time Howie call and just putting it on a shirt like that is a great idea.

  2. Howie Rose is such a damn good announcer , I never thought I’d be listening to baseball in my truck on the way home from work lol but this guy and wayne randazzo before he became the Angel’s main play by play , howie is de best.

  3. Read this in Howie’s voice. Chills.

One of my favourite parts about this call is that, just before, Howie says “this could be his last at bat as a Met – or it could be his most memorable”

Thank God it was the latter.

  4. Personally, I don’t know if a single play in sports will ever live up to how this play made me feel. It was so special.

  5. My mom was a hardcore Mets fan. We were texting all season talking about each game. She unexpectedly passed away in the beginning of September and I was devistated. The Mets run through October and watching them succeed beyond all expectations and knowing how much this team meant to her and I, honestly kept me from reaching a really bad place. I have Howie’s call of this saved on my phone and occasionally listen to it and get choked up still.

  6. That’s the kind of gift that hits you right in the feels! What a fantastic surprise from your daughter!

  7. Before I read it I thought it must have been from the ’69 team or ’86. Then I realized it was the Alonso call, and that we’ll have goosebumps of our own for calls like that. Next year a championship. LFGM

  8. I randomly have had this clip on repeat these last few days.

The emotion in ‘HE DID IT! HE DID IT!” is so fucking infectious.

I was in a random local bar in LA watching this game which of course had two other Mets fans/groups. One was all fitted out with his gear nearly in tears. It was awesome.

  9. I’ve said this a lot before, but we have an embarrassment of riches with both lead announcers having grown up in Queens as Mets fans.

  10. Wow. My son is 11 months old. If he ever gave me a shirt like that I would cry too. This is a beautiful shirt. Go Mets. Merry Christmas

  11. This is awesome! My daughter was 3 months old, had to be quiet since she was sleeping and I was running around my living room silently jumping and fist pumping going nuts. I will never forget that. Merry Christmas!

  12. The season was about to end that day. But then it didn’t. That last line gets me. What an awesome piece to have. A memento from someone who loves you. Merry Christmas LFGM
