Dolphins In Depth: What’s happened to Tyreek Hill?

The Miami Dolphins still have a slim chance to qualify for the postseason, but to earn the final Wildcard spot they need a few teams to lose, and must win out. The Dolphins took care of business against the San Francisco 49ers despite Tyreek Hill playing his worst game of the season. Imagine what Miami can do if Hill cleans up his game, and returns to the All-Pro caliber receiver he’s been throughout his career. During this Dolphins in Depth podcast we discuss what’s going on with Hill, and why his numbers and performance have been off in 2024.

  1. Where have you guys been? Tyreek Hill has never been a 50/50 ball receiver, and his hands have always been average. He's also BEEN dropping balls and fumbling balls in the biggest moments since he's been here. (See @Buff '22 @PHi '23 vs KC '23 BOTH GAMES)

  2. Berry you using the phrase moth-balls makes me think you were in the military. Ships and jets and stuff going to airplane graveyards is referred to as being in moth-balls.

  3. These tuaneers can't stop talking about Brian Flores. This is the third season he has been gone. Move on already. This team is headed in the wrong direction and slandering Flores is not going to make the Dolphins' situation better.

  4. Stability brings 21st century NFL dynasty to Miami Dolphins 🐬.

Expecting a 9-8 finish for 2024 hopefully with a wildcard playoff game appearance.

Predictions for 2025 record 11-6 with a deep playoff run.

The offensive identity for continued success must be as a physical power running team.

Playing perfectly complimentary football. Running the ball at least 30 carries per game about 55% of plays.

Winning time of possession battle significantly. Similarities to 20th century Dolphins 🐬!!

Defense getting maximum rest during games.

TUA as a game manager QB. Limited to 25 to 30 attempts per game about 45% of offensive plays.

  5. Listen…Chris Grier's bad decisions with the roster has been overlooked for years passing on T.J watt, drafting iggy in the 1st not addressing the Oline, and definitely not picking up a quality qb(Dillan Gabriel lego!)after Tua's first concussion. It makes 0 sense.I was once on his side, but if these issues aren't addressed, …Asta lavista.

  6. After 32 you need more rest, but the body doesn’t break down until after 35/36/37 years old, depending on how you care for yourself, your history and genetics. I’m a former pro athlete and have seen this a lot. Armstead should play another year just to solidify his pocketbook for life.

The Dolphins need to draft a top guard and sign another. Additionally need to draft some defensive linemen and use their 7th round pick in a quarterback. In fact, you should draft a QB every year, always.

As for McDaniel… I’m fine keeping him AS LONG AS you hire a “senior advisor” above him that will be on the field. Someone like Pete Carroll.

  7. Signing anyone like Jimmy G is a treat to Tua.. This organization will forever be nothing because of our QB… He’s limited and when you’re limited you short whole team… Stop puzzy footing with the QB situation.

  8. Omar, you are the best but I wanted to tell you this before when you mentioned the Dolphins O Line being good when Kieth Sims and Richmond Web were there & you mentioned today… "tell me the great offensive line that Jake Long was on". I am not sure how old you are and how far you go back with the Dolphins but the OL was not great or good when Webb was there. Those two did a good job pass blocking protecting Marino's blind side. They were not great run blockers and we had the same talk on the Herald about lack of resources being put into the line, the same blown OL picks, and a running game that could just disappear for 4 quarters

  9. Barry really needs to stop saying that hopefully armstead takes a pay cut. We were lucky he didn't retire after last season. The probability is even higher that he retires now. And you want to ask him to take a pay cut??? Hell laugh in your face…🤷

  10. Tyreek's hardly been targeted this year so his focus has slipped. But if he goes back to KC he gets a thousand yards again, he's not really done by any stretch. Malik Washington is here for real.

  11. Clearly the focus is just not there lately. Reek belongs as a third rcvr because is too small and easy to defend. He simply has not been getting open on a dependable basis. Clearly bigger, taller rcvrs need to be 1st and 2nd choices, it has always been that way and nothing has changed. And let’s not get things twisted, he’s kind of a quirky case and then the multiple off-field probs.

  12. Reek is clearly playing to be released, traded. Also prob gets very little sleep w all the constant baby crying at night. Reek belongs as a third rcvr because is too small and easy to defend. He simply has not been able to get open on a dependable basis. Clearly bigger, taller rcvd need to be 1st and 2nd choices, it has always been that way and nothing has changed.
