[Rome] The team is remaining mindful of its luxury tax positioning and signing Walker leaves them about $4 million under the first threshold… so the 34-year-old first baseman is likely the team’s final significant offseason addition. As a result, Isaac Paredes will play third

That leaves a big hole in the lineup with OF and DH. I don’t like filling it with hope.
I’m skeptical of this assessment. Are we planning to limp along until the trade deadline hoping to be in contention then pick up a rental OF to make a run?
Ah yes…. Our owner will not be willing to spend to compete. Our outfield is going to be terrible. Strap in boys it’s going to be a bumpy few years 😭
Uh… we’re happy with our outfield and rotation? Are we just 100% punting this year? Just take a gap year and find ourselves?
Crane is shutting the window on the “Golden Era” to save some money.
Can somebody check concession prices at Daiken this year? Because I guarantee they’ve gone up again.
I can’t help but wonder if they are trying to stay below the threshold in 2025 in order for the overage penalty to reset for 2026 when a ton of money is coming off the books (Abreu, Montero, Pressly = $44 Million gone).
This will allow them to spend over the CBT in 2026 (which will increase from 2025) and use the extra cash to rebuild the OF.
Lame
Not going over the cbt multiple years in a row is smart. Waiting until money is off the books next season is also smart.
Casual fans don’t realize we lose draft pick positions and international bonus pool money for repeatedly going over luxury tax. There’s more to it than Crane simply being a cheap bastard
I wonder if there is a chance get Saskai
I think they may trade F. Valdez. That could net a haul in the Tucker range as well and provide some cash to sign some other needed areas.
