[Jesse Rogers] Free agent Gleyber Torres is in agreement with the Detroit Tigers on a 1-year, $15 million contract, sources tell ESPN. Torres had a great ALCS after a bit of down year on the power side for the Yankees. He’ll start at 2b for Detroit. @JonHeyman was first with the agreement.

  1. Enjoy watching this guy swing for the fences and miss every at bat. Dude would have been good if he just stopped trying to be a 40 HR guy.

  2. Gonna miss his game, there’s sourpusses who have nothing but negative to say but locked in Gleyber is top 5 2B with a swing to pepper the whole field and a cannon for an arm.

  3. Gleyber was better than alot of that Yankee roster but just had such low baseball iq sometimes.

  4. Not a terrible signing for the Tigers. A chance for Gleyber to reenter free agency with a better platform year, as the pressure clearly nuked his value for the first four months of last season.

They will have to live with the errors and the boneheaded baserunning.

  5. Jesse just proving over and over he is terrible at his job. Just reads twitter and cant get any news that wasnt broken hours before

  6. I think some are forgetting that Keith was originally intended to play 3B but shoulder injuries pushed him to 2B to allow him to rebuild strength.

Jung did not look impressive defensively at third so this does make sense to shift him. I’m assuming Tork and Jung will battle for 1B or even platoon.

  7. Oh, that’s a much less favorable deal than expected. He definitely would have taken the qualifying offer.

Wasn’t it reported that other teams were offering him longer term deals, but they either wanted him to move positions or the team sucked and he didn’t want to go there?

  8. For some reason I expected him to go to the white sox, feel like they need to sign a couple of these types to even get themselves back in the category of actual major league team
