A bunch of “Hey I remember him!” players in this SNL sketch

  1. Forgot all about Chris Kattan.

Also can’t believe they used the other f word in that sketch. I get it was a different time, but it’s kinda jarring now.

  2. I was not at all expecting them to call him a f**. I knew we were pretty casual with that word back then but damn

  3. WTF Wohlers?

Edit: I am very confused by the downvotes. I am aware he’s following the script. It’s still a “what the fuck” surprising moment.

  4. I couldn’t tell who the Cardinals guy was. Looked it up and it’s David Howard. He had signed with the Cardinals only 10 days before this episode (Dec. 1997) so that explains why there’s nothing on the back of his jersey.

  5. If anyone has ever successfully used “hey baby, I’m Mark Grudzielanek!” as a pickup line, please write in.

  6. Wonder who came up with this idea, how they selected who was gonna appear and how they got them to NY? Maybe they all lived there already in the offseason? Can’t imagine them flying guys out for a 5 minute cameo.

  7. “Montreal Expos”

    Hey! I remember that guy!

…. Please don’t make the same joke about my flair or I will cry and piss and vomit.

  8. Expos players performing in front of a bigger audience than they usually got in Olympic Stadium.

  9. Todd Hundley. My first favorite ball player.

I’ll never forget when we traded for Piazza, after the initial thrill, asking my dad what is gonna happen to Todd.

  10. I love that era of SNL. Will Ferrell was the MVP, you could give him a couple lines like this and he’d kill it, or he could anchor a sketch and it’d be the best sketch of the week. And Kattan is underrated, maybe one of the most underrated cast members in the shows history.

  11. Ok, poorly aged slur notwithstanding, who knew Mark Wholers had such good comedic chops? His timing is good, and he’s delivering lines while looking AT the other characters in the sketch, and not staring up at the monitors like half the cast does now.
