5. No other team is giving a $30 mn aav for an overall mediocre defender at a non premium defensive position with a sub 800 ops who has been in decline for the last 2 years.

6. Prospects we like may not be liked by other teams. You can’t make a team accept your prospects. Mets had nothing to offer for years.

7. 3 years for $90 is fair. Why should a team take the risk, that Pete won't take on himself? Should have taken that deal last year.

9. We have our future second basemen locked in Acuna we have our SS position locked, we just need backups in the infield. We need our future 3BM. Let our prospects play for it! We have 4 prospects! Two of em will fill our future 3BM and outfield! We need defense to back up Soto in the outfield! Nimmo has planter Faciaties he is not going to be healthy in the near future with an injury like that! It’s just reality! We need to lock in our pitching with our SP and bullpen! We can add bullpen arms and we need our Prospects to prove what they can do! Getting SP is not going anywhere! We have the talent and prospects and money to get all the SP we need and bullpen arms we just have to be patient and wait for the right arms to get! We can get Castillo and Cees who are in their 30s and they can get injured and be out for the regular season! Especially since they are old now! They are not in their prime years so why rush and we get it wrong where we wind up losing because injuries are not predictable but we traded our prospects for em so they are not coming back either once we trade our prospects away when we can wait to get the right arms whether it’s the trade deadline and into 2026 next year! I hear your logic but that doesn’t mean it’s going to work just because they look good on paper!

17. Pete needs to understand that METS are not paying him for what he has done . He was paid already . METS is trying to offer a contract based on best approach based on statistical data and unfortunately data and MLB experience with 1B over 30 years is not good at all
