[Rogers] Sasaki’s agent says he won’t relay how many teams he met with nor who he’ll meet with next. He may visit cities soon. (He’s back in Japan now). Sasaki is not concerned with whether a team has Japenese players on it or not. He asked that no current players attend the meetings.

  1. Interesting that he requested no current players to attend the meetings. Is this the first time a high profile free agent made a similar request? Usually other players are involved in the recruiting process. Guess he doesn’t want to be swayed either way.

  2. So past players can attend the meetings? Perchance a past player who won a World Series and coached Sasaki?

  3. >He asked that no current players attend the meetings.

Phew. The White Sox dream is still alive.

Just imagine the Dodgers sending Shohei and Mookie Betts. The Padres sending Tatis and Darvish. The Mets sending Soto and Senga.

…and the White Sox send Austin Slater and Matt Thaiss.

  4. While I know I’m delusional, this makes me feel a tad bit better. Webby seemed to be not very good at recruiting.

  5. Joel Wolfe to Sasaki: you wanna be like Yamamoto or you wanna be like Arenado (fell in love with St. Louis for some reason when he had a path to the dodgers and now miserable)

  6. The Cubs having Seiya and Mike doesn’t matter, which sucks. But it’s awesome it doesn’t matter the Dodgers have Yamamoto and that other guy, Show Hay?

Hopefully he loves the cold if he’s visiting Chicago in January.

  7. I automatically don’t trust anything coming from agents since the Ohtani camp saying he would hold any leaks about meeting with teams against them. Roberts opened his mouth and he still signed with them.

Sasaki is a dodger until he isn’t in my book. Im sure he’s met with Ohtani and Yamamoto and actually cares if there are Japanese players to help him adjust to life in the states.

It just feels like agents go out of their way to pretend that their client won’t be in a dodger uniform soon.

  8. He’s going to the Dodgers with Ohtani and Yamamoto. He wants everyone to think it doesn’t matter but it obviously does. Theyll all be so close in money and why would he go play on a team with only English and Spanish speaking players when he has the Dodgers.

  9. If/When he signs with the Dodgers, I ain’t believing for a second that he was truly undecided. Waste of time until proven otherwise

  10. Visit cities?

Can we do one of those all-hands-on-deck-style cleanups like they do for the Olympics before he does a tour?

  11. Damn and the Astros had Yuli Gurriel ready to come represent them! That would have went over so well!

  12. He just wants free dinners at this point…everybody knows he is going to the Dodgers. Worst kept secret.

  13. No current players attend the team meetings. He’s now going back home to discuss the meetings with friends Shohei and Yoshi and decide next steps.

  14. If Ichiro is the reason we lose out on Ohtani and Roki I’m not gonna be surprised I can’t even be mad. Just more typical Mariner BS

  15. I love how specific he is being in pretending not to have already picked the Dodgers.

“He’s open to small markets. Also cities that are not on the west coast. And teams that don’t have Japanese players. He didn’t even **ask** Shohei Ohtani to be there…”

  16. When the article said he gave teams a “homework assignment”, every team the same HW as well……. I kinda feel like he asked an analytical question? Maybe something like “what’s something in my throwing mechanics that you see room for improvement on and why?”.. Bam gets insight into their coaching thought process and possibly a ton of data he can use later in his career. What do you guys think he asked for the HW assignment?

  17. Some people on this sub should really just filter the word Sasaki instead of getting so worked up about his IFA process lol
