This article in The Athletic mentions that after falling to an adductor strain on April 11th, Moncada appeared only once more in 2024, striking out on four pitches as a pinch hitter on September 18th. He finished second in position player WAR on the team with +0.3.

Pretty incredible.

  1. In defense of the Sox, he would have almost certainly dropped if they allowed him to play at the end. His one at-bat on September 18th was only because he was the last available player on the bench, he was supposed to come back from injury and ride the bench as a form of punishment for being a lazy bones.

  2. Yoan is an excellent defender when healthy, so I am fully expecting him to sign somewhere for really cheap and put on a hot corner clinic this year because White Sox

  3. Benintendi was at one point down to -2.1 WAR. It’s actually impressive he managed to get that “up” to -0.8 WAR by the end of the year.

  4. Why they gotta have Pete as the thumbnail for a post about the Sox sucking 🙁 I don’t need reminders about being swept last year

  5. I unironically want the giants to sign this dude. there are virtually no other LH infielders on the market
