Different circumstances, but the 2006 season sits like a specter for me, 7-2 to start that season before losing 4 straight (Jake Plummer unceremoniously benched during this streak). Ended the season 9-7, with a terrible home loss to a crappy Niners team, that gave the Chiefs the tiebreaker for the wildcard.
