NO
No you hoser
As a fan of the team, I’m not expecting the team to turn it around around to make the playoffs, but I wouldn’t be completely shocked if we sneak in as the 2nd wildcard. But it’ll be a long second half of the season.
I’ve always loved Jake Evans. I just tend to like penalty killers, guys who work their butts off, you know what you’re getting every shift effort wise. He is freaking clutch on the pk, 3 shorties this season! (my dad loves SHG more than anything lol) so we’ve been having a ball. We also laugh at how ridiculously similar Laine's goals are to each other. (When we watched the second half of the back to back against Detroit my mom kept saying we already watched this game 😂) because Laine and Evans scored identical goals in a row hahaha
With how absolutely terrible the Eastern Conference is, they could make the playoffs. Honestly almost any team in the East could get that last spot. The conference is that terrible
The Habs need less talk about the Playoffs and more game by game confidence and cohesiveness. The diamonds in the rough, Heineman, Evans,Dobes and Hutson could be the stuff dynasties are made of.
But this year they need confidence not hopium.
Montreal will be in the no mens land for the next 10 years. Too much pressure to win fast .
Trying to be realistic about my team here, my answer is a hard probably not, BUT the fact that we're even having this conversation is major progress. A sign that things are headed in the right direction.
This season has been crazy, every division seems to have a surprise contender and really surprising tank.
Great video! Montreal and Boston are about to trade places, with the Bruins aging and nearing their own rebuild, so there's that.
The addition of Carrier stabilized our defense with his steady play, and it allowed others to fill roles more suited to their talent level. We need an upgrade over Dach on the second line unless he proves that he can handle the responsibility of being a center.
I've been saying Dobes should've made the roster from the pre-season camp this year. He's so calm and well positioned, and his size is also important. I see a lot of Carey Price in his game.
🤣
Brilliant video.
I know people aren't satisfied with Salfovkisky's production but he's got the "strong guy who goes in the corners" role with Caufield and Suzuki, and the "Front of net" role on the PP.
He's contributing things that don't translate to points so it doesn't worry me.
Could all the Canadian teams make the PO?
I have incredibly mixed feelings on the idea of Montreal making the playoffs.
On one hand, it's the playoffs, of course you want to see them make it in. Habs have never gone three seasons without missing the playoffs, and no one wants to start now.
On the other hand, even if Montreal made it into the playoffs, no one expects them to win or even make a deep run. Playoffs also inevitably mean injuries, something that this team is notorious for and has been relatively fortunate with this season, Laine and Reinbacher not withstanding (still thinking about you David). Injuries, especially on those who already have a few dings and scratches could set back development for those players and throw a wrench into the rebuild for the entire team
As Eric Engels put it, it has been made clear Hughues doesn't want to replicate Buffalo, Edmonton or Ottawa, who never, or took forever, to rise up to the challenge.
Gorton, Hughues and St-Louis are creating a winning culture, and that doesn't just mean evaluating assets based on what they can bring on the ice. It's also what they can bring outside the ice.
If'we're playing EA Sports NHL, it's obvious Savard would get traded. But we all know how much he brings to this team. He's the dad. The guy everyone relies on, the guy that takes care of rookies. I will not be surprised if Hughues decides to keep him around, even if it's to end up as a 7th defenseman.
The Habs have the pieces now. They just need to develop them well, and if Savard is part of that development, I say we keep him around.
I doubt they'll make the playoffs but it's a lot more encouraging now then it used to be.
Iv been saying for awhile they need to get rid of barron im glad they did
I would love to think that this will be like 2019 St. Louis. But I don’t think it’ll end up like that. But damn if this isn’t fun to watch. I’m going to be at the Bell to see the play Toronto and Rangers in a few weeks. I hope they can keep this up. I’d love to see them beat the Leafs at home. It’s a stretch. But that seems like it could happen 😮
Dach is really coming back, hes starting go skate well again, his puck protection and cycling game in back on. Hes creating good chances. Coming back from an acl take time, usually you can play after 8-10 months, but you arent at full capacity before 14-16. Its been almost 15 months so im confidant he can comeback and be the player we saw last year.
I believe the Bruins will get nudged out at the end. They over-invested in defense that does not shut them down to the extent that they cannot even score on a PP. Once they start seeing the better goalies, they will probably show more of those deep losses (ie by 4 goals or more which they currently lead the league in). Enter MTL. Don't be surprised if they pass the Bruins for the last slot. This implies that OTT & TBL (who are not in the +/- red like the Bruins) also gets in.
This has been a great run against some good teams and the next 5 or 6 six games may decide if they have a chance of making the playoffs. I don't think they are there yet, but with Demidov coming next year, plus all the other promising prospects on the way, they should be competitive starting next year for a very long time.
